The pleating season commences in Febrttsry and continues until July but the early crops are the most productive. Emigrants should go on in rhe fall or winter* so asto be reedy to put in an early Crop. Those going trom. Missouri, Iowa, Wisconsin, and the NiMthernrtkrts of fHinoisebd fadtana,. should go through Missouri, or Arkansas Uf Van Boren. Those' ... ntty. going Irom other sections of the Union, south, should go to Helena, or Colombia, Ark.,1 M« Tenn.. or Nitchei, Miss., and thence sewesby land or to New Orleans, and thence by stet. up Red River to Sbreveport, Louisiana, as which place an agent wrtl be stationed whd will give-

the emigrants directions as to their route by lsnd to DaJlaa and StywartaviUe, a diatann of aome200 miles. Our colony is rapidly filling «P with an industrious, intelligent and moral people, and most eooitba*come the most populous part of Texas. The Government has recently formed the counties of Grayson Dallas, Demon, Collin and a part of Robeaon and Navarro within the Grant. It is decidedly ihe most* healthy part of the S(a:e, the lands having geniie undulating surface there are no ponds, swamp** or toarshe* and no local cause for disease. The atmosphere is pure and pleasant. During the warm* est months of aummer there is a constant breeze playing pver the prairies, and the nights*re invariably cool the thermometer m-ver riaes above 85 to 90, and in the wini.*' never fall* below 30 degrace Fahrenheit. It abounds in springs, and at the depth of fifteen or twenty f«et,in the midst of the prairie, the beat of water can be had all the small atraama are peculiarly clear and like. Colonel William Myers, who removed there Irom Garrard county. Ky., last fall, says,tn a iettef dated 8th May, 1847 "I will not venture to tell my friends in Kentuckv that the land hare wag better than the beet land in Kentuckv, becauae tliey would not believe it but now I a**ert it, for the aoil is deeper, being in many places five feet, and ihe kindest land te work I ever pat a plough in. I venlr believe that around the forks of the Trinity^ lie* the largest body of first rate Und tn America." From the forks of the Trinity to Santa Fe. is only about GOO miles by iha old Spanish trail, and the newapapers in Texas arenow advocatitig the route up the Trinity, and from its forks by land, aa in every respect preferable to tha one by Independence, Mo. Why ahould Em gram a think of goiog to Ore^n or California when they can obtain belter land for nothingao much nearer home I

This is, perhaps, the last opportunity that will ever offer on the continent of America of getting lands for the mere cost of surveys and costs o! deeds. Our colony .is emphatically the place for the poor man'sbome*- there he does not have to feed his cattle for aix or seven montlis in ihe year: there he will have a home market for all Use surplus he can produce for years to come, and with induitfy and economy, speedily become rich.

Let no Emigrant loose sight of the important fact that our contracts with the Government of Texas expire on the first day of July, 1848, and that he must not only be in the Colony, but that he muat hove selected his land, built house or cabin thereon, and be residing therein with his family by that day—one day after that data, and the opportunity, of getting lands lor nothing, is perhaps, lost forever. Persons desiring additional information, by addressing ibe underatgned Trustees^ either ol them, postpaid, shall receive prompt attention. j! »it3 Iv Jirar-tPK WILLIS STEWART, Trustee* of the
