ADDITIONAL ITEMS OF MEXICAN NEWS. f? TVe find the following additional items in th® NerT)rleao« Picayune of tho 2d inat. 't We have again glanced over our file* of Mexican papers received by the James L. Day, nnd have gleaned from them acrerol items of interest which wo had before overlooked.

Snntn Anna's effort*, after notice hnd been given of the termination of the ormUtice, to prepare for the defence of the Capital, are represented as having been truly prodigious. It is staled that he purchased from his private purse all the arms he could find, and the editor of the Disrio in his Jnper of the 10th adds, that he hnd seen tho day beforo a receipt for a very large sum of money pa'd by the general-iochief himself, for a number of muskets and 64.000 flints for the army.

The Oiario of the 10ih» speaking of the demon*! rations made by our army on that morning* says that at the alarm the troops in the capita! marched out to defend the point threatened with the greatest alacri'.y, and displayed an ardor that promised the best results. It was impossible* it is added, to describe the enthusiasm of the pcop!e, all shout' ing Liberty and Independence!" and declaiing their intention new to succumb to the ruthless foe.

Speaking of the battle at the Mill del Rey. on the 8th ult., the Government paper is extravagant in its laudations of the characters of Gem Antonio de Leon and .Col. Lucas Balderas of the battalion of Independence, both of whom were mortally wounded in the engagement. Gen. Leon, if is stated, was several times Governor and military commandant of the State of Oaxaca, to which he had rendered eminent services. He was also a veteran of the war of independence.

It will be remembered that immediately upon the armistice being agreed upon, the .Mexican Secretary of State issued a proclamation calling upon Congress to mee'.jocnnpider wiih the President the proposition of If. Trisi. Tins proclamation was dated the21st nf August, but, although some few met every ,dny up to the 4 ult., in no instance over thirty could be induced to attend the sittings, and a quorum therefore was never assembled. None of the seventy members who declared they would not deliberate in the capital while it was threatened by our army and retired to Tosula appeared at any of the meetings.

We have before us a fierce reply from alencia to the report of Gen. Sflas, of the batlie of Conireras. The part of the report that roused the ire of Valencia was the statement that he disappeared from among his troops as soon as the battle commcnced on the morning of the 20ih August, and was never seen after. Me claims, in this reply, to have been present during the whole buttle, and that he only left when he found it impossible to rally his troons.

Parliament allows the Q'ieen of England for her support, 51,750,000 for Prince Albert, lier husband, 8133.000. and for her horse* nnd hounds, $310.000—making in all $2,193.000.

IMPORTANT TO PARENTS! W I N E S

CANADIAN VERMIFUGE,

A CURTAIN IIF.JIEDY FOR WOR.1IS. THIS medicine ia safe in its operation and more easily administered than any other.

I'ho greatest cause of death among children is tn be attributed to Worms. They give riae to numerous diseases, and are the more fatal because the least suspected: were parents to give this subject more stieniion. and carefully observe ihe symptoms which indicate the exisienceof worms in the bowels, the live* of many children would no doubt be saved. Some of the symptoms are as follows the countenance is of a pale, or a leaden color, and suffused with occasional flushes, the eves nre lienvy and dull, bad breath, itching in the nostrils, the sleep is disturbed, the patient often awnkening in great fright, and is liable io starting and grinding the teeth, the nppetite is irregular, being sometimes voracious and at other timea feeble, occasional vomiting, &c.

IVhifr't Canadian Vermifuge has acquired a reputation far exceeding that of any other medicine of the kind, and isdaily increasing in popularity wherever it is known and used it is universally approveil it possesses properiies which no other article of the kind does, it is more prompt and efficient in its action, and entirely free from engredients which have any but a beneficial effect, the health of the patient beinr alwnrs improved even when no Worms are discovered. Physicians pnscribe it, and to use the language of one in high standing, who resides in Cleveland, Ohio, consider it "the only article of the kind he ever saw that was so uniform and prompt in expelling worms,'1 it may indeed be relied on with the utmost confidence, as it has r.ever been know to fail, this is the reason why

II who have used it will not use any other. We have in our possession a number of certificates from physicians and others of the highest respectability, who all testily to its superior eilicacy and recommend it as never failing retnedv.

READ AND BE CONVINCED.

We. the undersigned, Inve frequently administered medicine prepared by Mr John Winer of thia town, designated "J. Winer'sCanadian Vermifuge." and being fully satisfied with its efficacy, confidently recom* mend it as a safe and efficient remedy for the expulsion of worms from the intestinal canal.

March 30. 1847 Messrs J- Winer Sc Co..: Sin—My child of five yenrsof age, was lor more than two years severely afflicted with worms, during which time we cave her different medicines recommended in such cases, but they produced no beneficial effects I at length procured a bottle of your Canadian Vermifuge, and gnve it to her. which caused her to pa as a large number of worms, since then she has been in the enjoyment of perfect health.
