•Sfc been recently published from the pen of Gen. ^|, ..Ilouaton, on the subject of tho annexation of Te&a, and the eausea which leJ to it. JF^ letter wat drawn out by one from Mr. Tyler,
belongs to the history of the limn*. »y The revolutions in this letter of Gen. Houa^ton are not less extraordinary than were the causes which, Mr. Tyler alleges, induced his
action in the matter of the annexation of i. Texas. It will be seen that Gen. Houston •^giv^a, what miy bac»ill«d a flit denial to the material statement* of Mr. Tyler, and in doing this ikes admissions quite as rem trka* ble as anything known to the public of the whole course of lh «t nfl%ir. Mr. Tyler says he was induced to take the initiative steps in the annexation, because he had received "a«then tic information" that other governments were moving to phee Texas in opposition to the interest* of the United Slates. Gen- Houston gives this a distinct

When this great law giver was called upon to justify this enactment, he observed,'that in the choice of wife, rit should only be considered and that the law was made to prevent joung wo. men from being chosen for their richcs, or neglected for their poverty.'

A letter from Sterling, Worcester county, Mass., gives an account of malignant disease among the cattle upon the farm of a r. Smith of that place. Six fino working catle died in the course of a week. The symptoms were like the murrain. Several persons, among them the physician of the place, open ed two or three of the cattle to ascertain whai the disease was. One of the men cut his finger, and took the infection from the dead ox. Ho died in 20 hours. The physician also lay dangerously sick at the time the letter was written.
