FTER Prt«tiee of more than 30 years, andwitnetting a great amount of human suffering from tint distressing malady, Pile® or Homotrhoids, and believing that the remedies heretofore discovered lor its care, are almost an entire failure short of an operation by the ligature, wire or knile,—Dr. Humphreys has been induced to bestow uncommon attention to the subject, with the design of discovering a remedy that would possess the power to discuss the inflammation, and disperse the tumefaction of the parts, and at the nine time be a mild and desirable remedy. His anticipations have been most folly answered, by a discovery, in combining active ingredients, which in the compostand increased efficiency

that it becomes, as a composition,' perfectly mild and adapted to the rise of the inost delicate subject. Ae a teet of sincerity and confidence in the remedy, the subscriber pledges himself to perfect a cure of Piles, tn all Cases that may be submitted to his management, or in case of failure-in any case, no charge shall be made for (fie Ointment.

From J. S. Wilcox, Machinist.

To THE PUBMC.— I have been afflicted with Hornorr hoids or Piles for more than 12 years past, snd for a great part of the time severely afflicted with it. I have used almost every kind of medicine and application, and all withont" any substantial benefit, until about three weeks since I commenced using Dr. E Hum phreya1 Vegetable Ointment. From the hour I com menced usins it I have been getting better, and am at *4 this time quite free from the complaint. I have the fullest confidence in itsbeing a specific in such diseases.

Humphreys*: SIR,—Icommenced the use of your Vegetable Ointment for the Piles, a few weeks since, and have used it occasionally ever since, although tinder circumstances so unfavorable that I did not ex pect to be much benefitted bv it. On the first apolio* tion I felt immediate relief from the soreness and ten dernesS that usually attends the disease, and think am now almost, ir not entirely well, and do most cteeerhilly recommend it to all similarly affected.

Auburn, N.Y". March*2,1841. J.N. ST4R1N. The Ointment is equally efficacious in fissures of the Anus and Rectum, a malady of which the great French Surgeon, Baron Dupuytren, in his lectures on Clinical Surgery, says: ''Tlie discovery of a cure for this disease, without an operation, would be an inval liable benefit to mankind." The following from the Rev. G. W. Montgomery, attests its efficacy in that disease:

Dr. Humphreys'— Having but a few weeks past been afflicted with several small fissures on th% lower part of the Rectum, which gave me intense pain for several hours each day, I made use of your Ointment for the last two weeks: and it has not only relieved me. but the fissures are healed, and I am cured. 1 gladly recommend the use of yourOintment to those afflicted in a similar manner. Covert's mixture, also now used so extensively for this affection by clergymen, belongs to the same claas of stimulating expectorantsbeing one of those lucky combinations of medical agents which, wbileit promotes expectoration, does not impair the tone of the stomach. Of this medicine we feel at liber-

?rofession,

to speak, since its composition is not held from the and we hope the proprietora will soon see fit to give it to the public. We, therefore, venture to recommend it, having employed it in our own case, and in the cases of many others, with decided benefit.**

From tke Rev. D. Moore.—In 1825 my longs becameseriotttfy diseased, and continued so for nearly fourteen years, and about six years since I was attacked with a Chronic Bronchitis which occasioned me touch pain and distress sttesded by difficult breathing and pains in various parts of the chest. In March last purchased a bottle of Rev. I. Covert's Balm of Life, sad'the effect has been, that my breathing is about as free as before I was taken, my Cbrouic Bronchitis is nearly if not altogether cored, and the pains of the chest have subsided. I have great confidence in the Balm of Life, and think it a good and safe medicine.

THE COUNTERFEITER'S DEATH BLOW. ^TiHE public will please to observe tfist no BranHeth's Pills ars genuine unless the box has three 1nbelst upon it. each containing a facsimile signature of my hand willing, thus, B. Brandreth. These labels are en fin red on kteel. heaiitifullv designed, and done at an expense of several thoussnd dollars.

The Brandreth Pills.

The remarkable cures which have been efferfteil fty Brandreth's Pills, have astonished the whole medical faculty, many of Whom have conceded that they are the greatest blessing that ever was given to the world.

The reason these celebrated Pills have such a universslly rood effect. i«, because tbeir action harmonizes with the human body.

When a dose of Brandreth's Pills are taken, thev are digested, and pass to every part of the system but they le^ve the body when they have effected the intended purpose, and health and vigorare by them insured.

Mineral medicines may enier the sys'tem, but they are with difficulty got out again ar.d thev always occasion pain and misery while thev remain in the body.

Whereas Brandreth's Pills areas innocent ns a piece of bread, and are evacuated with the disease for which they are taken.

From the time we are horn to the time we cense to breathe, our bodies are constantly wasting, and as constantly building up. The action of the atmosphere wears or wastes them. The food we eat the digestive organs convert into blood, which renews or builds up bv its circulating power. Thus the human body is healthy when the blood circulates freely, and when anything prevents its free course through the vains, disease commences.

is no remedy known eit&er in professional or domestic practice, so absolutely, immediately, and permanently efficacious in this prevalent and obstinato malady, as Moffat* celebrated and long established life pills and pbewrix hitter*. Extraordinary and, renowned are their effects upon diieases in general,1 in Fever ant) Ague* and all Billion* Affections they are more so because, in these they are as infallible, as any human rfteana can, be. This has been proved in more than ten thousand cases, nor is th«re an instance in which t«»ey have felled, or reasonably can fail, when taken in strict accordance with the directions here sub*

ble success, these moat be rigidly followed Fever and Ague, in all its four leading species, is a pe tiliar periodical disease, and Dr. Moffat hits folly established the impormrvt discovery that its cure can never be effected with precision and certainty, exsept by a periodical administration ola proper remedy, in coil-' nection with the specific powers of one of the ingri^lients in hie medicines, is the secret of hia invariable triumph, while all other practitioners either entirely fail or only temporarily sucseed, wern with tlie very best remed-.es that were known. Anetus, or Ague is either Quotidian, or daily Tertian, or third-day Quartan^ or fourih-dny Erratic, or sometimes one of tneaa periods and sometimes another^ or it is Complicated, by taking these periods in succession, and then running into intermittcnt_fever of a more malignant character,

Buf it is a remarkable fact, however mysterious and unaccountable it may appsar, that each and all oftheso species of Ague, have a fourteenth-day crisis, in which they may be cured with certainty, lut by neglecting which they can only be cured by chance. Dr Moffa.'a directions for takins the medicines in thisdiseasff, ura therefore these:—First, take two of the Life PiUa at bed time, and next morning before breakfast a full wine glass of the Phcenix Bitters in about ths same quantity of water, and half a wineglass mora in a full wineglass of wnter, about half an liour before each meal during the day. On the second n:ght take three

I Is and the bitters as before on the third night pills and the bitten as before, and continue taking four pills every night for three nights mora, with the bitters during the day. On or before the seventh day, the Ague will seem to be entirely cured, and the patient will feel well, hungry, and hearty, but he must nevertheless continue to take the bitters as before prescribed, until'and on the fourteenth day, with two pills, every night after the seventh day. He will »hen, aadnot until then, with Positive and invariable certainty* be permanently cured, not only of Fever and Ague butof whatever billions and liver affections it may hava superinduced or even in any way connccted. If, how-. ever, the patient should by any neglect, or undue confidencc in restored health, omit to take ihe Phceni»v Bitters in the full quantities prescribed, at least threo timet on the fourteenth day, Dr. Moffat must not b«v blamed if the disease should return, acd the patient should learn wisdom from affliction, and go through another course of the mcdicines for a fortnight longer. Obeying these instructions, however, he will be so thoroughly cured, that he may bid defiunee to the (lisease, however unhealthy may be his location or provalent the malady around him. For children between seven und lourteen years ofage. half of the above qmaalilies of the medicines will suffice lor younger chil-,' dren, a quarter of those quantities, to be increased or diminished in proportion as the ags varfes from advanced childhood io infancy. For very young children, small quantities of the bitters only will alene be ne-: cessary.

This treatment, with these supremely effectual "LUa Medicines," has been perfectly triumphant in the worst regions of the Southern and Western oountry, and round the northern lakes, where the malady prevails with the universality of an epidemic, and the domand for this sovereign remedy has been far greater than thn supply. Dr. MoiTEit's Agents, however, arc now W£ll. furnished, nnd will make everv effort to seod this advertisement into the most afflicted districts, yoluntary and jealouslv grateful testimonials are received at? the proprietor's office in New York, by every mail in incredible numbers, to the absolute efficacy of these est toniBhing medicines, not only in Fever and Ague.etlver intermitent fevers, liver and bi 11 IOUS affections, and derangements of tho digestive functions generally, but also in chronic nnd inflammatory rheumatism, eostiva*i, ness. pnins in the side and limps, eruptions of the skin, scrofula, piles, worms, scurvy, and a host of other complaints, for the cure of wlitch, these Vegetable Life Medlcin#s are so pre-eminently unowned throughout the United States: Knowing, however that many of these diseases, ns well as a most fatal undermining of the general henlih are occasioned by Fever and Agua. Dr. Moffat, in his advertisements, ihviKsthe special attention of the public to the absolute ascondeacy *f his medicines over this malady, the fountain head.of sa many others. He has only to add that the Life Medi-^ cines are agreapble and invigorating in their opentions, require neither confinement nor change of diet, and have acquired Uie reputntion they havel&ug possessed, noi by die usual ariifisial efforts, but solely by*' their invariable and extensive usefulness.
