The second effect of the Life Medicine* is to cleanse the kidney* and the bladder, and by this means, the liver and the lungs, tbe healthful action of which entirely depends upon the regularity of the urinary organs. The blood, which take* it* red color from the agency oftheliverand the lungs befoie it passe* into the heart, being thus purified by the 'jiand Rouiished by food coming from a clean stomach, course% freely through the veins, renews every part of the system.and triumphantly mounts the banner of health in the blooming cbeek.

Moffat's Vegetable Life Medicines have been thoroughly tested, and pronounced a eovereign remedy for Dyspepsia. Flatulency, Palpitation of the Heart, Los* of Appetite, Heart-burn and Headache, R^stles^nes*, Ill-tempei, Anxiety, Languor and Melancholy,Costivenew, Diarrhoea, Cholera, Fevers of all kinds,Rheumatism, Gout, Diopsies of all kind*, Gravel, Wotnis, Asthma and Consumption, Scurvy, Ulcers, Inveterate Horet, Scarbutic Eruptions and Bad Complexion*, Eruptive complaints, Sallow, Cloudv, and other disagreeable Complexions, Salt Rheum, Ervsipelas, Common Colds and Influents, and various other complaints which afflict the human frame In Fever and Ague, particularly, the Life Medicines have been mok eminently successful so much so that in the Fever and Ague districts, Physicians almost universally prescribe them.

All that Mr. Moffat reauires of bis patient* i* to be particulxr in taking tbe Life Medicines strictly according to the directions. It is not by a newspaper notice, or by anything that he himself may say in their favor, that he hopes to gain credit. It is alone by the results of a fair trial.

MOFFAT'S MEDICAL MANUAL, designed a* a domestic guide to health. This little pamphlet, edited by VV. B. Moffat, 375 Broadway, New York, has been published for the purpose of explaining more fully Mr. Moffat's theory of diseases, and will be found highly interesting to persons seeking health. /(EVER AND AGUE—TO MY FRIENDS IN JL THE WEST, and particularly those who have used the LIFK MKDJCIMSS in treatment of FBVKR ABD AGUE.

It is but a very short timesince these Medicines have been introduced into the evre and Ague Districts, and the proprietor flatters himself that during that period, wherever they have been used according to the directions, they have done more towards exterminating the disease than all other remedies and prescriptions combined. It is a common excuse among "regula practitioner*" when specifics are introduced, that they cannpt cure diseases which people sre in the habit of considering incurable. Medical experience i» constinually doing away a part of the list of the incurable diseases, and Mr. Moffat has the happiness of confi dently announcing that FEVER AND AGUE is now to be added to the number of complaints which modern skill has conquered.

In Fever and Ague the LIFE MKDICIKSS not only give quicker relief than any other'remedy, but if pemvered in, effect a PKEMAHKUT CORK SO that the patient is only ordinarily careful, and resorts directly to his medicine upon the first symptom of tendency to anew attack, it may always be wardde off. To escape one chill would ibe of infinitely more eonsequence to the sufTerer than the valve of the remedy—to remove the disease prnnaneAtly would confers benefit upon him whi^h cannot be estimated by any earthly standard. That these Medicines will effect what is here claimed for them, the Pri^rietor has the testimony of all acquainted with them and their application and use in the Fever and Ague and his object in now addressing his friends at the West is to request them that they will spare no pains in communicating their experience, and disseminating this highly interesting information, now that the season for Fever and Ague has arrived.

It is not for the mere purpose of disposing of a few hundred packages of the Life Medicines, that the proprietor makes this appeal. The demand for his Medicines is already greater than he can convenienily supply and even were it insufficient to afford him business, he would conceive himself supremely selfish, if his pleasure was not greater at the benefit conferred upon the suffering part of the community by an increase in his sales, than at his own pecuniary profit.

The Life Medicines, if properly used md perse vered in, recommend themselves still it is necea aary that 'he public should know that such medicines exist, and hence the propriety of advertising them. Ii is hoped, therefore, that the proprietor will not be accused of egotism when he says that there is no medicine or mode of treatment extant, for fever and ague, so appropriate, thorough and positive in its happy effects as MOFFAT'S LIFE PILL'S AND PHCENIX BITTERS.

BE ON YOUR GUARD.

The extensive sale, the unprecedented popularity, and constantly increasing great demand for that most beneficial and universally approved medicine, known as DR. BRANDRETFTS VEUETABLK UNIVERSAL PILLS, lias induced many individuals, who are entirely destitute of common honesty, to COUNTERFEIT THEM.

The very circumstance ol persona being constantly engaged in counterfeiting them, (the Pills,) ."is confirmation strong as proof of Ho.'y Wit," of their extraordinary beneficial effects.

As you value jtottr health,»BBWARE WHERE YOU PURCHASE. Furthermore, when you want to obtain BrandrethY Pills in their original purity, be sure to KEEP CLEAR OF THE DRUGSTORES, for if you purchase pills of them for Brandretb's, you are as' certain«s death to get an injurious article, no matter how much the proprietors of drug stores and pedlars affirm that they havethe genuine pins.

IX)NOT BELIEVE THEM, for they are not, nor never have been, allowed to sell tbe genuine and always remember that all authorized agents have engraved CE*TIFICATEB OF AOEKCT, which is signed by B. BRANDRETH,M. D. Ask to see this certificate, and it it cannot be shown, do pot purchase.

TKSTIMONIALS.

From Dr. Eli Todd, late President of the Medical So ciety of Connecticu:, and principal of the Insanie Hospital at Hartford, dated September 8,1838.

My personal acquaintance with Dr J. P. Peters together with the very favorable impression of his talenta and his character, derived from his friends, have satiafud me that he is well entitled to the medical honors he received at YttleColb-ge, and that the public may safely confide in his integrity and skill, in the exercissrof his profession. Extract of a letter from Dr. Jesse Sanders dated Woodville, Miss. August 28th, 1836: "Mi. Albert Spenc*r gay* me the agency of your Vagetable Anti-Bilious Pills for this place and left ma at the time as many a* 1 peisumed would supply the demand for 12 months. Scarcely, however, had I sold a dozen boxes than a run commenced upon theiu which consumed my whole stock in rathei less than four weeks. Since then I have contrived to procure a gross more, which lasted a few days, but now I am entirely out, which tioubles me not a little, as I have several calls for them every hour in tha day. Indeed, air, the sale of your invaluable pills has not only taken the lead of every thing else in the medicine line that was ever introduced into

section ofthe country, but hasactually stopped the sale of all others. You will immediately, on the receipt oftbis, forward roe 2,000 boxes at your lowest who!*sale prices, directed to the care of Prescott, James and Co. N. Orleaus. and I will romityou thesmount of your

as soon aa received. To Dr. J. Petera. JESSE SANDER3. Extract of a letter from Dr. Wainee, of Philadelphia,

Feb. 2, 1838.

"Your pills are the mildest in thei oppemtions, ami yet most powerful in their effects of any that I have ever met with in a practic of eight and twenty years. Their action on the cnyle, and hence on the iuipuiities of the blood evdentlv very surprising." Extract from an address delivered OH the evening of the 4th May, 1837, before the Medical board of New York, by Dr. Enurton. St*" N.Y. Medical Reports, for 1837. "Asa body Lknow that ws have set our face against the generality of patent rtiedicines, and experience has taught us that the great bulk of them are mere catch penny trash but I feel called upon to make an honorable exception in favor of the Vegetable Pills ofour- worth

and skilful fellow laborer andcitiien, Dr. oseph PriestPeters, of which, (in consequence of their peculiarly nutritious action on the blood,) 1, and several members! of this honorable Society, are ardent patrons." Thisfriendly allusion to the Vegetable Pills mas received with a warm round qf applaustoy allhe members present.
