jected, she stopped at a barn with the intention of committing *uicide, but the appearance of a horse *ngge*ted to her the idea of stealing it, that she might thereby incur the penalty of death, which was the law for that offence in her own country. She was taken up with the horse near N. Bmnswick. When put upon her trial •he pleaded guilty, and refused to retract it, but her counsel was permitted by the court to enter a piea of not guilty, and the case went to a jury, who brought in, avcrdict of not guilty. Such was the sympathy excited in her case, and so strong was the belief that the act was one of phrensy and not of deliberate intention, that no one appeared against ber.—Newark Eagle.

He obtained, says Mr. Sherron, about thirty scholars, took tho money from them, together with a goodjy assortment of flutes, clarionets, &c. and decamped, even without paying his board bill. The advertiser's description of the vagabond is a curiosity, and we copy a portion of it in the hope that we may aid in bringing bim to justice. lie measures, "standing in his own, or some other perron's boots," six feet three inches in height—his feet in proportion—say fourteen inches—his legs placed in the middle of hi* feet aforesaid'—his complexion dark, hair bushy (not curly)—about twenty-eight years old," with an impudent look. He dresses in black, and took with him three changes—videlicit— "put on, pull off, or go naked"-—(truly a very competent diversity of wardrode,^ and is

complete a scape-gallows looking scoundrel wus ever wrapped in six feet of hide." The people at large and innkeepers in general [particular] are cautioned to bewnre of him." Wc hope Mr. Sherren's inventory of his charm will not load any romantic young lady to fall in love with the writing .master beforo she sees him in person. Such a gay deceiver we are fearful will do immense injury to the country.
