^inrlmoMiinoir. Measr#.TifTon and Hahkboas, of thi* State, a* we find by tbe lata Washington papers, have offered resolutions of enquiry into both Houses of Congress asking an appropriation for tbe Wabash River Patience and perseverance are fine things, and, in ordinary caws, mast generally triumph. Our Senators and Representatives are at least blest with tbe gift of oontinqance in thus knocking at the doofc of the Treasury. Two vetoes, and a long sermon on constitutional scruples, have only sharpened their zeal for tbe good of tbe Wabasb people. Well, we bid them Gocl speed and only regret that, at home, so many doogh-faced gentry 'sbotjld thwart their effort* for the prosperity of tbe State Such characters—servile editor* and no less servile office-hol-ders—uphold every abase of power, and while they crtfve an appropriation for tbe object named, are yet vociferous in upholding the power by wbich it is withheld! Can tuch men be trusted, and will tbe people confide in them? We say to our delegation from this State—Go on—persevere—tbe day is not faf distant when the People of Indiana will cast from their confidence men who hav| obtained power but to uppress and dishonor her. -'.v "W jfcls
The Globe say* that Great Britain "may profit by our collisions with France." True, sh(i will} and France will not forget, among other things, the pledge made by Mr. Van Buren, of the friendship of the party now in power for Great Britain. She may fancy that she sees a little of that friendship in these warlike proceedings.
LATEST FROM FRANCE?
By the packet ship Francis 1st, Capt. Castoff, Paris papers have been received at New York to the 10th and Havre paper* to the Hth of November./ ^r -C
It is stated in the last Paris accounts that the Duke of Bassano, the former Minister of the Interior, has been entrusted by the King with the formation of a new Ministry? which it is said will be composed a* follows:
Tho Duke of Bassano, Minister pf the Inferior, with the presideucy of the Council. M. Bresson, at present Envoy at Berlin,Minister of Foreign Affairs.
General Bernard, (late an officer in the U. S, Corps of Engineer.) War Department. M. Teste, Mi ni*ter of Commerce.
M. Sauzel, Minister of Public Instruction^ M. Persil, Minister of Justice. M. Charles Dupm, Minister of Mariqe..... M- Passy, Minister of Finanoe, The Chambers were to be immediately convoked, and a law of amnesty presented for their concurrence.
The only news of importancein addition to the above, is the defeat of the Queen's toops in
Sfa'N,
commenced by Gen. O'Doyle, by the Carlist force* under Zumalecarraguey. The battle was bloody and obstinate, and the victors disgraced themselves by shooting some of the prisoners who fell into their htvnds. Gen. MJNA, well remembered for his devotion to Liberty in the Spanish revolution of 1821-2, has placed himsejf at the head of the Queen's troops.
