Vtox TSX X. T. JOVftJMX. OF COVVtKcJu THREE DATS LATER FROM EUROPE. By the packet ship George Washington, capt. Holdredge,we have received London papers to tbe^3d ult. and Liverpool to the 24th, both inclusive.

The arrival of Don Carlos fn Spa longer doubtful. A battle between his forces (represented to amount to 1*2,000 tnen) and those of Gec|. Rodil, was shortly expected* ilis banker in Paris had been arrested and imprisoned.

The British fleet in the Mediterranean had landed 1000 or 1200 marines near Smyrna but precisely for what purpose, does not appear. There is evidently a strong feeling of distrust between the Quadruple Alliance on the one band, consisting of Engiand, France, Spain, and Portugal and the Northern Despot on the other and this feeling has been increased by the recent events in the Peninsulars well as by the disposition manifested by the German Confederation to bring Switzerland within its grasp, & certain demonstrations of Russia indicating a desire to take a slice of Tur-

SPAIN.

The Gazette de France has the follow ing:—letters received from Elisondo, dated July 14th, gives the following detail*:

On tfie 12th, Chaties V. went publicly to the Church to be present at a Te Deum performed in honor of his safe return.— Crowds of people from all directions flocked to Elisondo bonfires were lighted all over the country, all the villages were illuminated, and theinhabitansdres3ed in their Sunday clothes, testified their joy by dancing all the night.

On the 12th, the King, accompanied by Zumalacarregay, who had joined him soon after

his

arrival, set out lor the head quar

ters of tfie army, at some distance from Elisondo. According to the plan of military operations adopted on the lltli, the King

is

immediately to advance to mecfei

Rodil, attack him, and march upon Madrid. All the necefsaiy preparations lor an action are in readiness seventeen thousand men regularly organized, and completely armed and equipped, are in marching order, without taking into account the guerillas. The first words of the King after his arrival were, "Wc must march upon Madrid, without slopping upon the way we must keep constantly advancing and not loose time in lightiug upon

be treated as rebels to my Royal person. 1 shall be as severe to those who persevere in their rebellion, as I shall be indulgiug lo those who shall repent. And you, valiant and faithful warriors now aisogjbled around your chief & your father, lclrne most rigid discipline reign amongst you, and observe lite most strict obedience towards your commanders. From discipline and obedience proceeds strength, and that strength will secure us the victory with which God will crown the cause of justicc. my Royal residence of Elisondo,July 13." The Gmcite de France has the following: Il is asserted that Charles V. when at the Chajean de Villa Real, in Portugal, sent, towards the end of December, lb*33, a gentleman of bis household to Ihe different Courts of Europe,to announce his coming to the throne, conformably to the law of succession guarenteed or recognixed since thfe reign of Philip V. by all the European sovereign*. #!t is likewise s^id, that the answer of the Continental Monarch? was to the effect that they promised to recognize him as soon as he should make his appearance in Spai»u The bearer of the answer of the Sovereigns-landed in Portugal at tbe same moment that Charles V. was leaving that country to go to England. The bearer ol these answers followed the Prince to London, and then delivered these answers*. There is some reason to suppose that these communications fiom the Continental Powers induced Charles V. lo set out without delay for ihe northern provinces of Spam, which have been for ages back remarkable for their fidelity to tht. Crown." *1.^

the other. The Government is al Madrid and it is thither that we must rush forward with the greatest possible impetuosity."— On his arrival at Elisondo, Charles V. made several nominations, of which the following are the principal. Count de Villomur has been named War Minister ad nterim Zumalacarreguy, Chief of the General Sta(T& Commandant Genera! of the army, Uenilo Eraso, second in command. The following is the proclamation addressed by Don Carlos:

Sot.uinns!—My desires are nt Icngfh salH'ied, I am in the midst of you. This is a moment my heart has been long expecting— )ou are acquainted with my constant efforts to hasten it. My paternal heart is filled with the sweetest satisfaction when thinking of your ulorious actions, which will be transmitted to the most distant posterity. Volunteers nnd soldiers, your sufferings, your fatigues, your constancy, your love for your legitimate King and for my Royal person are a subject of admiration for'all nations, who cannot find ctilogiums sufficiently worthy of such heroic devotion. Let us set out, then, altogether, and with me nt your head let us march to victory.—But even victory will be painful to me if purchased at the expense ol Spanish blood. To avoid this, 1 exhort all those who have been seduced or deceived, or who, docile lo my voice, will lay down their arms, to come and take shelter under my Royal mantle* But if contrary lo my expectations, there should be found any so blind lo persist in an opposite course, they shall

purpose, however,VH at present merely conjectured. The English fleet had land ed about 1,200 marines at Smyrna and is also said in the advices from Russia, that considerable activity prevails in increasing the Russian Navy. In London those indications are looked upon with a great degree of jealousy but an apprehension does not appear to exist to any extent that Russia will, for a considerable length of time at least, attempt to gain any advantages over the Ottoman Government.—Liverpool paper.

In addition to the more common diseases of our country, his attention has been particularly directed to chronic difficulties and complaints, generally supposed to be incurable, and from his experience, believes there are but few diseases which do not admit of cure, or at least of being so greatly mitigated lhat the patient may enjoy a comfortable degree of health, instead of laboring under disease and pain. Being aware also that thousands neglect medical aid from an idea that their cases are remediless, or frcm repeated trials with no better effect than an increase of disease, & an extravagant bill—He therefore mentions a few of the diseases which he proposes to remedy or make no charges for his attention and services, viz: Asthma or phthisic, dropsies, general and local, nervous or periodical headache, consumption iu its insipient Stages, acute and chronic rheumatism, ^alt rheum, goitre or swelled neck, pancreatic and other tumours, dyspepsia, varicose veins, or diseased action of the veins of the lower extremities, accompanied with pain and swelling of the limb, indurations of tho spleen or ague cakes, indolent ulcers, &c.
