CONDITION OF ILLINOIS. The Springfield correspondent of the St. Louis Republican, writes, under date of the 11 tli inst: Lou. Jour. The secretary of State appeared within the bar of the House, and read to that body a communication from the Governor, urging upon the Legislature the immediate necessity of action in regard to the finance the Slate. Large Telescope. Professer Mitchel of Cincinnati College, has been to England and France to procure a large telescope, for that city. He has succeeded in negotiating for one a; Munich, for ,sl i, 000, and has returned to raise the adequate um to pay for it. The sum, it is thought, v ill be raised. The telescope has an aprture of 1 1 inches in diameter, 5 feet in ength, and a magnifying power of 1200. Phis will be the largest in the United tstes. two years at Pisa, one at home, two in Florence, and another in the south ot France, seeking,
