At this they v-rre highly indirrnnnt, and said they iho'jzht it was a free country, and this place should be free to all: they would c.'it be gulled out of their money by a Yankee! an Englishman ouht to be allowed to go free to such public places, &c. The superintendent bowed very politely, and said, "I wish you had mentioned that you were Englishmen before, for they arc
the only persons we rminit free; we consider that thev paid dear enough for ascending this hill on the 17 of June, 1775." grr"TThe editor of the Advertiser insists on the Administration's being held to strict responsibility and accountability for the doings of all its office-holders. What right, then, has he to denounce th?t Administration for dismissing officeholders in whom it has no confidence and substituting others in whom it has confidence? What can be more absurd than to contend that it should retain all the office-holders appointed by Mr. Van Buren, and yet be responsible for their misconduct? Lou. Jour.
