They work so hard, invest so much, furnish their papers so low, that people teally seem to th.nk they actually arc worth nothing but to be given away, or taken without leave. Accordingly, nothing is more ronlnon than for people, who have the curiosity to read something that happens to be peculiarly interesting, or who wish to send a paper to a friend as a token of remembrance, to run into a printing office, and ask for or lake a paper just out from the press: and if the printer should think ot taxing him any thing for it, the customer would think himself quite insulted by the niggardliness of ihe stingy printer! With .vhat other mechanics or business men would people think of taking the same liberties? Newspapers. A child beginning to read becomes delighted with a newspaper, because lie reads of names and things that are familiar. . A newspaper in one year, says Mr. Weeks is worth a quarter's schooling to a child, and every father must consider that substantial in format-on is connected with this advancement. The mother of the family being one of its head, and hating more immediate charge of i lie children, ought to be intelligent in mind, pure in language, and always cheerful and circumspect. As the instructor of her children, she should herself be instructed. A mind occupied, becomes fortified against the ills r.f life. Children amt-d by reading and study, -ere of course considerate and easily governed.

There is mi mii'di truth, wholesome advice, and good sen-e in the following, which we extract from an exchange paper, that we cannot avoid giving it a place in our columns: "Avoid giving long credits even to your best customers. A man who can pay easily wid not thank you lor the delay, and a slack, douhff 'ul paymaster, is not too valuable a customer to dun sharply and seasonably.
