The pledge is merely an instrument exprcseing a determination of mind, to abstain from the habitual and intoxicating liquors. As tlie society does notinquireintothe motives which have induced this purpose of abstinaucc, whether proceeding from physical, moral, religious or any other considerations, who shall call them in question? Surely not the objectors to the pledge, who do not regard the moderate use of alcoholic liquors sinful.
