Resides this, there w ill la two public examinations a year. To the citizens of Vincennes and its vicinity, the Trustees would respectfully sugtrest, that an Institution of permanency and of the hiiih character which it i their intention to give this academy, is not only demanded by the wants of this community, but is adapted in many respects to improve the character, increase tVe respectability an 1 promote the prosperity of this crowing Ho. rou;h and if so, has it not special claims on ir p ltronage"? To those at a distance, who cannot he sup posed to have any peculiar sympathy with the local interests of the place.they beg leave to say .that it is the settled purpose of the Doard.so fir as a libc11 and enlarged policy so far as appropriate and cii" lent means can go. to make Vincennes Acad;r.v, as a Seminary of sound and useful learning, ultimately and as speedily as possible, second to none in the I'nited Plates. The advantages of a public and permanent Institution must be obvious to all; there isgreatei power of motive to give it character, better opportunity to remedy inconveniences and to snp-
vlv conveniences there will be less chance of
bocks and consequently less expense to patrons; a uniform system of study can be maintained from the beginning to the end of a course of accomplished education; and what is surely a consideration of crcater importance. Globes, Maps. Chemical ind philosophical apparatus Arc. can be furnished to a much greater extent than can be expected in private and temporary Schools. A Specific and Lasting Cure for the
lever and .igue.
IIIS worthy remedy repels the charge of being
I a quack medicine, it having been the result of
many years study, experience and labor in the
medical practice and observation of rever and
Ague. It is composed of such medical principles
as were considered most fit to restare the liarino
ny of action between the stomach, liver and the other important functions of the system, the loss
of which harmony is evidently the immediate cause of the disease. It speedily promotes a reg
ular and healthy appetite, winch is generally entirely destroyed or redered very precarious; by which effect yip:or and strength are soon alforded to the whole system. It must be apparent to all, that a medicine possessing these peculiar virtues, is useful in a great variety of complaints. By to newing the healthy action of the digestive organs, it has proved itself of remarkable benefit in Dyspepsia, Depraved appetite, Heart-bur.i, Water Brash, Flatulency, Jaundice, Night sweats, Dysentary, Bowel complaint, and many other afflictions of similar origin. But it is in the treatment of Fever and especially Fevr and Agiir, or In
termittent Fever, that its powers have been principally tested, and with those who hare seen its
usefulness, it is pronounced an invaluable remedy.
It has also been used as a preventive, by many who were subject to a periodical recurrence of the Chills and Fever, and it has always warded olT
the apprehended attack. Many hundred persons
of known veracity, have testified to its powers as
a specific, '.ut the medicine is so generally knwn
that it is deemed unnecessary to copy any of
them. It is manufactured by the proprietor in Philadelphia, and sold in all the principal towns
in the United States Canada, Mexico and St.
Domintro. It may be had in Vincennes, Indiana,
at the Druj Store of HITT &. SA YEIt.

svu.i or LOTS in t!)r Cohm of
Illinois, on the l?th and 11th of Octoberi FkU.U the very hbeal pulronuge luuuiuvled lit the purchase of Lots in the town of Florence, heretofore, and from a desire on the part of the pro
prietors to comply with the wishes of many
dividuals who have not yet purchased another
sale will take place on the day aforementioned when it is hoped that all who are desirous of making profitable inyestments in town property will avail themselve of the oppoitunity which that oc c.asion will present. At the sale alluded to, tha average price of lota was greater than that in the first public sale of lots in the flourishing tewn of Indianapolis, the Capitol of the state of Indiana. FLORENCE is delightfully sitmated in tha county of White, on the Wabash river about eighty miles above its mouth, and is the only site in the whole intervening distance where a good landing for Steamers can be found cither on tho Illinois or Indiana side of the river. From this place the river is navigablo lor Steam boats to the point of its junction with tho Ohio, all tirac when they run on the last mci tioned river; and isisthe only plane below the Grand Eapida which is not sbject to be overflown in high water, on which a town could be advantageously laid out. Bon Fas creek which flat boat;, descend from 40 miles above its niouti, unites its waters with those jo tho Wabah at this point. Its situation is believed to be as healthy as any on this river. A few miles N. W. of it is the wealthy and flourtsking settlement of Albion. The country around it, abounds with the finest timber is inhabited by an enterprising and industrious populat on and interspersed with larms, which in luxuriance of soil and high state of cultivation, will not lose by comparison with any west of the mountains. It coinuiai.ds the trade not only of White, but ako of several adjacent counties, and from the nature of its position it is destined to be the dividing point of trade between the northern and southern 'portions of the rich valey of the Wabash. To the merchant, the manufacturer, the mechanic, and the speculator, it presents inducements of no ordinary character, as it may safely be asserted, that no town on the Wabash river has better prospects of arriving at greater commercial importance and few indeed as good. A plot of the aforesaid town is open to inspection at the house of Thos. Bishop in Vincennes, and at the office of O. B. Ficklin in M. CarnicI, lllinoia. N. B. Messrs. Kearney and Tyrell have erected within the limits of the town, a splendid Steam Mill, and there is every confidence that their public spirit and enterprise will be rewarded by rich harvest of gnin. It is situated directly at the junction of the Bon Pas with the Wabash, ani the vast bodies of fine timber floated dowa to it from the Wabash, White and Bon Fas rivers, will enable them at all times to keep on hand a constant supply of lumber for the market. Terras of payment made known on the day of sale. THOMAS BISHOP, and others, 1'roprictort. Sept. 16th, 1S37 16-4U fj-jThe Mt.
