A robbery was ccmnitled nn Monday between this city and Portland. A young gentleman was riding in a hack, in company with a couple of gamblers, w ho were unknown to him, and when about two miles from the city, one of them snddenly feized and held him by the throat, while the other robbed him uf a thousand dollar. The ruffian after the commission of the deed , thrust him forcibly out of the door of the hack . The young man called aloud to the hack man to stop, but the latter drave on more furiously than before. The hackman, whose nnxe is JamesGillam, has been arrested as an accomplice, and is now in jail.
