I was teaching a class of senior boys and girls In high school. One boy annoyed me a great deal by putting his arm around the boy next to him and lopping over in a spineless fashion. At the end of my patience one day I exclaimed: “Donald, if you can’t keep your arms where they belong you’ll have to sit here beside me.’’ —Exchange. *
SCHOOL MOVIES
Lot 72
Everyone knows that the school bought a moving picture' machine last year. Not many real “shows” have been put on because of the expense of the films but this year we are going to have a program consisting of eleven plays. These are sent out by the Extension division of Indiana university, and are films especially made for the use of schools, churches, clubs and other . organizations. They will be shown in the afternoon for the seventh and eighth grades and high school | students and they will be 1 charged ten cents. Then in the | evening they will again be shown 1 for the benefit of the public and J the small fee of ten cents will again be charged. This is not a profit-making scheme. The school must make enough to cover the expense of the films and so offers the following exceptional program for the coming school year: “The Mill on the Floss,” ( 5 reels) —Nearly everyone knows this book of George Eliot’s and the film interpretation is very well done. Mignon Anderson is featured in this production. “The Vicar of Wakefield,” (7 reels) —If one misses this film version of Goldsmith’s masterpiece, they are unfortunate, for it is admirable in every way. “King Lear,” (5 reels) —Frederick Ward is featured in this wonderful play of Shakespeare’s. Lovers of Shakespearian play’s should not tniss it. “A Hoosier Romance,” (5 reels) —This is a story of early rural life in Indiana. All of the subtitles are quotations from the poem of James Whitcomb Riley.

“Silas Marner,” (7 reels)—The name of this film alone ought to bring every person to see it who has ever read the book. If you have not read the book you will want to see the picture any way because it is very interesting. “The Flight of the Duchess,” (5 reels) —This is the film version of Browning’s poem. It is very accurate and students of Browning will be especially interested. “Fires of Youth,” (5 reels) — This is one of the best modern plays and shows how a little child brought about true co-
