The Syracuse Journal Democratic Creston Henry Miles, Editor. Published every Thursday, ai Syracuse, Indiana. $2.00 a Year Phones: Office, 4—Residence, 934 -n lndiana Associated «*jv»tc<>a>«'or 'Entered as second-class matter on May 4th, 1908, at the postofhce at Syracuse, Indiana, under the Act ot Congress of March 3rd, 1879, Thursday, October 28, 1920 | ——3^— 7 Extra voting' booths will be supplied at each of the three precinct polls in the township on election day to take care of the additional vote that will be cast because of the enfranchisement of women. All voters, however, should make it a point to cast their votes as early as possible and thus avoid any disappointment arising out of Crowds at the polls during the Jast hours of the day. * Some men are trying to frighten the women into voting straight tickets. An election is a selection. The voter w’ho swallows his party ticket blindly does not select —he only takes what is handed out, good and bad alike. That certainly is not good citizenship. There will be plenty of time to “scratch”, the ballot if the voters see fit to do so. Voting is a very simple process and scratching the ballot from top to bottom is not difficult. Men have scratched their ballot ip the past, and surely they can do it again. And the v. omen are not less intelligent than the men. All that is neces- j swy is that voters should fam- 1 iiiarize themselves with the, process of marking the ballpt. We call attention of-the wo- 1 men to the offer made by the s.'hool teachers, in a notice printed on another page of this week’s issue of The Journal, to instruct women voters, of all parties, on hOw to mark and fold the ballots. There will be no suggestions whatever made as to whom to vote for, but the instructions will be merely to inform the \women how to mark their ballots to insure them being counted. __—o o— Bit+er Orange Perfume. The baslg of many of the choicest pe. unips is oil of petit-grain. This is pr. rf’ieed from the leaves of a small bit'er orange that grows in vast quantities in Paraguay. The' leaves are boiled, the vapor distilled and the oil skimmed off. The, peel of this same orange is the main ingredient of curacao.

TO THE VOTERS OF ‘ KOSCIUSKO COUNTY I am a candidate for Judge of the Supreme Court on the Democratic ticket. My name is on the STATE BALLOT near the bottom. While I did not seek the nomination, now that I am a candidate of course I want to be elected. The people of this county, republicans and democrats alike, have been exceedingly kind to me. My whole aim has been to perform my whole duty and thus show my appreciation of the honor bestowed. In the determination of causes, I have not been conscious of any political favor or prejudice at any time. If by your votes you can help me to be elected to what is to me thg highest honor in the state government, I can only pledge the same service with the same sense of duty as heretofore, but intensified by the greater responsibility. , Very sincerely, FRANCIS E. BOWSER. i BE RID OF THAT ACHE ! If you are a sufferer with , lame back, backache, dizziness, i nervousness and kidney disorders I why -don’t you try the reined} that your own neighbors recommend? Ask your neighbor! Mrs. J. K. Mellott, 407 S. Main I St., Nappanee, Ind., says: “ I well know the merit of Doan’s Kidney [ Pills and recommend them to anyone suffering from kidney trouble. My kidneys gave me a lot of annoyance before I began using Doan’s. My back was the worst symptom of my complaint, as it ached for weeks at a time and I could hardly get around. Everything I undertook to do seemed a drag to me. I was in such misery. I had blinding, dizzy spells and saw flashes of light before my eyes. My kidneys didn’t act regularly and I decided to get Doan’s Kidney Pills. I used several boxes and they fixed me up sound and well. Today lam in good health and thank Üban’s for my cure.” 60c, at all dealers. Foster-Mil-burn Co., Mfrs., Buffalo, N. Y.
