Boat Show Opens Saturday
INDIANA BOAT EXHIBIT OPENS ON SATURDAY Expect Big Crowd At First Annual Show In Fort Wayne When the doors of the-first annual motor boat show are thrown open at Fort Wayne on Monday, a collection of pleasure crafts and accessories that reflect a flood of marine production will be in evidence. Boats and engines, gadgets of various denominations, yachts and dinghies, will be on display. The show will open Saturday, February 21. It is to be held in the Wayne; Pharmaceutical Biiilding at Berry hnd Ewing streets. According to Merl J. Harkless, Bruce Pierce and George Meyer, manv novel attractions will be offered and some of the most ulxurious lake crafts will be on display. Mr. Harkless stated that bathing beauties will adorn many of the larger models. Huge crowds are expected and a variety program is being planned for the patrons each dav. Through the courtesy of Mr. W. E. Long, prominent Lake Wawasee resident, a motion picture featuring Lake WaWasee will be shown, as well as “Feature Story” one of the greatest educational motion pictures ever produced. While “Feature Story” does not pertain directly to marine crafts, it is an interesting and romantic production based on the 30,000 mile travel through forty countries of a newsreel cameraman, and Mr. Harkless, after seeing the picture, prevailed upon the Holsum Bakery Company of Fort Wayne for permission to exhibit the picture. Tickets for the show are available at the Tippecanoe Boat Company of Lake Tippecanoe, the Wawasee Boat Service, the Meyer Boat Livery at Lake James and other local points. Clarence Brillhart Dies At Cleveland Clarence Brillhart, 43, formerly of South Bend, assistant manager of the Fidelity Investment company, Cleveland, Ohio, died there Saturday afteh a three weeks dllness. Brillhart was well known in Goshen where he often was a business visitor and at Lake Wawasee, where he maintained a summer home for several years. Born and reared at Kendallville, Indiana Brillhart moved to Cleveland two years ago from South Bend to accept the investment company position. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Frances Brillhart, a daughter Frances, and his mother, Mrs. W. H. Brillhart of Kendallville.

“Feature Story,” oe of the country’s outstanding educational motion pitcures, -will be exhibited next week at the Boat Show in Fort Wayne. This picture, which was produced at the cot of several thouands of dollar and which is based largely upon the travels of Ace Williams through forty countries of the world, covering 30,000 miles, will be donated through the courtesy of the Holsum Bakery Company of Fort Wayne. Long Illness Fatal To Goshen Woman GOSHEN, Feb. B.—Mrs. Lydia Ellen Firestone, 68, wife of Samuel Firestone, died at her home here today after fifteen weeks’ illness. The funeral will be Wednesday.
Mr. W. E. Long also will exhibit a motion picture which he had produced, showing the many advantages for vacationer on Lake Wawasee. The picture also points out many other vacation advantages in and around the lakes of Northern Indiana. “Feature Story,” while it is not a picture dealing with marine crafts, is in part devoted to travel, and the promotors of the boat show, after reviewing the picture, thought it would be most interesting to the patrons in attendance. HARKLESS HAS LARGE DISPLAY OF NEW CRAFT Plans New Sales And . Showroom Here According to Merl J. Harkless of the Wawasee Boat Service, one of the most prosperous years in marine sales are expected on Lake Wawasee this season. Harkless pointed out that upon the return of his brother, K. W. Harkless, manager of the Lake Wawasee Boat Service, from Florida early tips spring, additional display and sales rooms will be built at their Lake Wawasee boat plant which already occupies two large buildings. The display and sales rooms will be used for the exhibit of new boats and engines from the Gar Wood and Thompson Boat Companies. Other outboard boats and engines will also be on display. -J Harkless also announced that after the close of the boat show at Fort Wayne, plans would immediately get under way for the erection of a new wet storage plant, and other facilities for the accommodation and expected increase in business this summer would be made. Mrs. G. Latham Is Hostess To Club A table decorated with miniature easels, brushes, palettes and artist’s models was set by Mrs. Garnett Latham when she entertained The art Club last Thursday evening at her home. A fee of 25c was paid by each member to the Picture Fund formed for the purpose of purchasing and donating pictures to the Syracuse Library. Mrs- Herbert King returned Sunday night from a three and a half months stay in Brownsville, Texas. Mr. and Mrs. Everett Young spent the week end in Chicago. Evelyn Bitner was the guest of Lois Dillon for the week-end. Order Burial Os Newark Car Victim GOSHEN, Feb- 10 (INS)—Coroner Karl Vetter of Elkhart today ordered the burial of Frank Birch, 61, of Newark, N. J., who was killed by an auto near here January 11. Every effort to locate relatives of the man has failed.

RECORD SEASON IN BOAT SALES SEEN DY MEYER Sees Indiana’s First Boat Show As Huge Success _ George Meyer of the Meyer Boat Livery at Lake James, predicted great success for Indiana’s first boat show which is scheduled to Open Saturday in Fort Wayne. ’ Meyer stated that those attending the show will find it most interesting and educational from all points of marine craft and urged those interested in boats of any description to be sure to attend the Fort Wayne exhibit. I Meyer said that one of the largest collectionsof marine crafts and marine motors ever to be fexhibited in this state will be op display when the boat show opens Saturday. Meyer also predicted a very prosperous season for the marine industry as a whole and said he anticipated the establishment sales record for mrine crafts and' motors at his Lake James Boat Livery. Unusual Weather * Experienced Here A mud storm, something that has not occured here for many years, visited Syracuse and vicinity late Sunday nightL Monday, streets were muddy and house tops, automobiles and buildings gave the appearance of having been covered with dust and then sprinkled with a garden hose. According to" weather prognosticators, mud storms are unusual. It is believed by some that rain clouds passed through a dry or dusty area and become laden with dust, which turns tOtinud as it falls. Weather warmed considerably early in the week. The ground thawed and many believe an early spring is in evidence.
