Chamber Os Commerce Dinner Big Success
FEATURE STORY PLEASED VAST AUDIENCE HERE „ . ] Motion Pictures and Pot Luck Dinner Draw Over 300 Guests Over 300 Syracuse residents and visitors from nearby communities and Lake Wawasee assembled last Thursday night , for the first Chamber of Commerce social meeting of the year, and enjoyed a potsfuck dinner and motion pictures shown through the courtesy of W. E. Long and Holsum Bread Company of Fort Wayne. There were 210. persons served at the dinner in the high school gymnasium and an actual count showed that another 137 came after the dinner just to view the pictures. Warren T. Colwell, president of the Syracuse-Wawasee Community Chamber of Commerce presented Mr. Albert Forks of the Holsurh Bread Company. Mr. Forks explained that “Feature Story”, the attraction of the evening, was produced at a cost of more than SIOO,OOO. Sponsored by W. E. Long Research Foundation of Chicago, Ace Williams toured the world taking the pictures to show how bread is produced in various countries of the world. Williams visited more than 40 countries, where he studied and recorded with his camera, the methods of bread making. The picture itself was more than the usual travelogue. Named “Feature Story”, the scenes were carefully woven around modern romantic drama, showing the work of a newspaperman in his efforts to cover what he termed a difficult assignment. The audience was carried through the picture and entertainment for nearly ah hour. It was so interesting that many expressed the view that “it seemed very short.” Another picture showing scenes around Lake Wawasee was received with equal enthusiasm and applause. This picture brought to the audience many beautiful scenes around Lake Wawasee, some of which many people had never seen or noticed before. The picture included several views of Mr. Long’s beautiful estate, showing his pets and Chinese garden. ' Mr. Colwell, stated at the conclusion of that the community is very fortunate in having a man like Mr. Long interested in its growth and welfare. He referred to Mr, Long as our most aggressive citizen. Referring to the pictures, Mr. Colwell stated that this form of entertainment is an example of what is to be expected in Mr. Long’s new. theater, and urged the community to patronizie and support this project. Colwell also said that he was pleased with the interest and attendance at the meeting, and explained that the Chamber of Commerce plans to hold regular social affairs.

IN THE BAG SATTLE, Wash., Jan. 20 (INS) —Cotton, Mrs. J. N. Denton’s two-months-old Angora kitten, avoids the laundry bag nowadays. After enioying himself playing with soiled, clothes, he climed into the bag and went to the laundry. Mrs. Denton missed him and called the laundry. It was closed. She called Paul Gardner, the manager. Gardner went to the building, hunted through bags of clothes until he found the Denton family wash, and out of the bag came the very distressed little cat.
