On LakeWawasee George Gast spent the week end in the Tuttle cottage. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Brown, Lydia Mellinger, Mrs. William Mallon, and Mrs. John Walton spent Thursday afternoon in Warsaw on business. Mr. Cail is moving Jay Elliot’s garage to make room for the new road rumored to go through some properties on South Side. Mrs. Jay Elliot was called to Mishawaka, Tuesday, to the bedside of her mother, Mrs. Shultz, who is very ill. F. R. Schaaf, of Gary, Ind., spent Saturday at his cottage. Mrs. Albert Emerson called on Mrs. Roy Brown, Tuesday morning. W. E. Long was a visitor to Syracuse, Tuesday, to cast his vote. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Tuttle, Indianapolis, spent the week end with Matt Katzer. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Templeton, of Indianapolis spent the week end ■- at their cottage, Lake Wawasee. Personals Mrs. Roy Riddle, of Willard, 0., spent Thursday evening with Mrs. Elizabeth Riddle. Mrs. Herbert King, of Kale Island, left Monday for Brownsville, Texas, where she will spend the winter. Wednesday Afternoon Holds Regular Meeting The Wednesday Afternoon Club 'met this week with Mrs. L. A. Seider. Twenty-one members listened to an interesting program given by . Esther Stoelting and Grace Macey. Alice Clark delighted the club with two vocal numbers. The club is devoting the first half , of this year’s work to a detailed study of the islands of the Pacific. ' At the first regular meeting, Sept. 23. held at the home of Carrie Stone Laura Bow Id received the geography of Pacific lands. Josephine Freeman gave an historical survey of the U. j S. posses iso ns, including those in j the Pacific. On October 7 at the : home of Mrs. Louella Sprague, j Georgia Miller told interesting facts about Hawaii. Stones of Hawaii, by Jack London, were reviewed by Mrs. Sprague. Life in the Phillipines was sketched by Lula Seider on Oct. 21st at the home of Mrs. Purdy. Mrs. Har- j ley reviewed a story of the Phillipines in her usual fascinating manner, i On November 4th, Mrs. Stoelting told about our island coaling stations in the Pacific, including Wake Island, Guam, Tutuila of the Samoan group, Midway Island and Howland, i Baker/Jarvis and Christmas Islands. Grace Macey described the geography and people of New Zealand. She had some interesting pictures and a newspaper from New Zealand which Mr. Macey had received from a friend with whom he talks by radio. Th'e annual rummage sale is to be held November 14 in the basement of the library. The proceeds of this sale are used for the Christmas treat which members of this club provide for the children of this community. Entertains Visitors At Sunday Dinner . Mrs. Floyd Gingrich Hostess To Mothers’ Club The Mother* Club met at the home of Mrs. Floyd Gingrich, Monday evening. Mrs. Noble Blocker gave a very interesting article on “The Parent.” A paper, entitled “A Happy Home, written by Mrs. Harold Kitson, was read by Mrs. Roy Schleeter. Sixty-Eight Attended Hex H, E. Club Masquerade I annual masquerade party at the Hex rural H. E. club held their annual masquerade party at the Grange Hall. Ethel Richards, president being absent, the meeting was conducted by Mary Brown, vicepresident. There were 68 present. The masquerade was followed by a seven o’clock pot luck supper. I Prizes were won by Eleanor Workman, Ida Snyder and Ruby Nicolai. The program consisted of vocal and instrumental duets, a pantomine a contest and harmonica music. Hostesses were Ella Kline and Ruby Bobeck. Ethel Richards, Lena Miller I and Eleanor Workman were elected • to have charge of the next meeting. Matt Katzer Entertains Friends At The Tavern Matt Katzer, proprietor of The Tavern, entertained a group of his friends at The Tavern, Monday night with dinner and cards. Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. Carl Tuttle, Indianapolis and Lake Wawasee; Bruce Wilcox, Indianapolis, Indianapolis and Lake Wawasee; Clyde Ballou, Chicago and Lake Wawasee; Charles Bachman, jr., Mr. and airs.
