THOMAS J. CULLER 59 DIED HERE SUNDAY Member of Well Known Family Buried Tuesday In Syracuse Cemetery Thomas J. Culler, aged 59, unmarried, died Sunday afternoon at 4 o’clock at the home of his mother, Mrs. Frances Culler, here. Mr. Culler had been ill for the past 18 months but becamp seriously ill of pneumonia last Saturday. Mr. Culler was the son of Jonathan and Frances Culler and has spent most of his life time at their home in the vicinity of Syracuse. For a while he was employed at Dixon,* 111. Surviving relatives are his mother, one brother, Harry Culler, one siste, Mrs. Louis Herman, and six nieces and one nephew of Syracuse* Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock M the Culler residence with Rev. Tarvis Purdy pastor of the M. E. Church officiating. Interment was in the Syracuse cemetery. Paying It Baek For each dollar any American farmer received from the Roosevelt administration he and his children will have to pay back nearly two and one-half dollars as their share of the money spent by the New Deal.

On Lake Wawasee Mrs. Hubert Miller and sister, Mrs. John Viney, of Logansport, spent last week with Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Walter. Mr. and Mrs. Carl R. Tattle spent the week end here and returned to Indianapolis Monday. They expect to return later this week. George Gass who spent the summer here has returned to Indianapolis. Mr. and Mrs. Fae Patrick and sons spent the week-end at the cottage of George Mellinger. Herbert McMahn and family of Anderson were at the lake over the week end. Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Horst and Mrs. Fred Rusch of Indianapolis spent the week end in the Horst cottage. j Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Rusch of Indianapolis are spending the week in their cottage. Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Maurer of South Bend spent Sunday at their cottage. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Symms and sons, Clarence and Fred and Mrs. aArthur R. Robinson of Indianapolis spent the week end in the Symms cottage. Mrs. Boyd Templeton, 2nd. of Indianapolis was here last week end. Bruce Wilcox, golf pro at the South Shore Golf Club w’as in Chicago early this week. Local Happenings Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Grieger left Friday for Muncie, after spending the summer here. Mrs. Alice Bartholomew, returned home Sunday after having spent a week in Elkhart, with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Edgell. Lloyd and Floyd Disher went to West Liberty Saturday, and brought Mrs. Lloyd Disher and daughter, Marcia, home.

Grieger will spend several weeks there at the home of her sister. Mrs. J. H. Bowser was in Goshen Saturday where she attended the funeral of Mr. W. E. Gorther, father of Mrs. philip Bowser. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Hoopingarner, of Chicago, were week end guests of Mrs. Lily Hoopingarner, his mother. SCHOOL NEWS Get Local school children will be granted a half-holiday, Wednesday, October 21, when teachers will go to Fort Wayne or Indianapolb for a teacher’s association meeting. Teachers are required to attend the conference. Baseball Nelson Felt's team won the seventh and eighth grade playground baseball championship. The prize was an ice cream bar for each member.
