Webster Will Have New Garage Business Auto Repair Business Expects to Open In Next Two Weeks A new garage is being built in North Webster on the site of the service station operated by Wayne White. The garage will be operated by an expert mechanic from Fort Wayne and will service new cars sold by Rodibaugh and Miller, and will also be equipped to do general repair work on all makes of cars. The business will open, it is ex* peeled within the next two or three weeks. Wayne White will continue his service station business as usual, and will work in cooperation with the garage. The new building is being erected by Arnold Culver and Ward Vannator. The structure will be a one story frame. FORMER LEESBURG MAN KILLED IN ACCIDENT Funeral services for Arley W. Cunningham, former resident of the Leesburg vicinity, who was killed on May 23 in sm automobile accident near Loudonville, 0., were held at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon at the Church of God in Leesburg. Rev. Polhemus officiated. Interment was in the Leesburg cemetery. The deceased resided on a farm northwest of Leesburg about twentyfive years ago. He is survived by the wife, two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Jacobs and Miss Cleo Cunningham, both of Goshen three brothers, three sisters, and four grandchildren. AFRICA. Mr. and Mrs. Eli Shock visited Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Shook Tuesday evening. Betty Shock is visiting her sister ’ Mrs. Hiram Fervada. _ Mrs. Stanley Miller visited Mr. and Mrs. Simeon Lewallen, Wednesday. Ward Robinson was the dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Shock, Friday evening. Mrs. Elmo Shock visited her daughter, Mrs. Frederick Kuhn, Tuesday. SOUTH SHORE Mrs. Chancey Coy and children visited Mrs. Bert Searfoss, Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Mock were in Goshen, Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Chancey Coy and family visited Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Bowser, Sunday afternoon. Joseph Swank, Toledo, Ohio, visited Mr. and Mrs. Leland Baker, last week end. Mrs. Forrest Snepp and her mother, Mrs. Jordon, were at their cotage Sunday. George Strieby, Mrs. Marie Le Count and son Corliss, visited Mr. and Mrs. Bert Searfoss, Sunday evening. Mrs. Emma Cummis and sons, Emerson and Andrew, Louis Diddier, Elkhart, and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Niles and family visited Mr. and Mrs. Bert Searfoss, Sunday. Freeman Kelly called in the afternoon. I Personals Mr. and Mrs. Millard Jones, Anderson, have moved onto the W. B. Makemson farm south of North Webster. Rubin Stomkey is trucking corn cobs from Leesburg for W. H. Warner. A. B. Warner is ill., Mrs. Loma Larson visited her son in Chicago several days last week. William Miller, Sberewood, Ohio, was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Miller, last week-end. Robert Bouse is reported much improved, after an operation last week for appendicitis. William Gerard recovered his automobile which had been stolen however his carpenter tools have not been returned. Frank Arnold found the machine in Charles Long’s woods. Earnest Wolfe is doiny the concrete work for the improvement on the Quinlin McKenna property. Rodibaugh and Miller are having their store remodeled, and are having additional shelves installed to handle the increasing trade. The work is being done by William Gerard. Rev. sThomas Plew, 79, Morrit Chapel; W. W. Upson, 86: Noah Mock, 85; enjoyed the Memorial Dey service here. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Kuhn, Plymouth; Zeph Beghtel, Elkhart, and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Miller and family were guests of Luther Slrombeck last week end. Marcia Raric, Greba W’arner, Welcome Warner, Vera Lambrook, and Mildred Atherston, all of Fort Wayne, attended services at the Church of God, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Wilcox and family; Mrs. Betty Cook and children, Marion and Stella Weigle, Kimmel, visited Mr. and Mrs. Milo Strombeck, Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Bartholomew. Decatur, is visiting her brother James Westlake and friends here. Charles Mayer has sold his Yellow Bank property and is moving to this city. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Phelp and family, Indianapolis, visited Mr. and Mrs. Edward Phelp, last week end. William Longley has sold his farm three miles west of: North Webster, to Lewis Straud. Mr. Straud plans to operate a chicken farm. Claud heesley and Gus Maybie transacted business in Indianapolis this week. Emmett Parker, Harvey Hen wood, Thomas Warner Sr., Thomas Warner Jr., Mr. and Mrs. Carl Strombeck and family, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Baugher and family, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Strombeck and family and Mr. and Mrs. Willis Eberley, all of Detroit spent last week end in North Webster. TWO SLOT MACHINES SEIZED AT YELLOW BANKS Two slot machines were confiscated by Sheriff Virgil Yeager at the Yellow Banks hotel at W’ebster Lake. Several months ago Sheriff Yeager, working in cooperation with Prosecuting Attorney Seth Rowdabaugh and Chief of Police Frank R. Lucas, issued an edict against the operation of slot machines in the county. Continued enforcement of the edict will be made the officers say. The hotel leased by Mrs. John Kline, North Webster, is operated by Harvey Matthews, of Warsaw. Both machines were taken to the county jail where they were found to be loaded with coins. They will be destroyed. The raid occurred about two o’clock Sunday morning. Several persons were in the hotel at the time. SMB NO. WEBSTER CAFE HAS BEEN REMODELED Schwinn Case, North Webster has been remodeled and enlarged to accomodate increasing business. The place has grown steadily since its opening in North Webster three years ago, and recent improvements make it one of the outstanding bright spots of the community. A special dining room has been completed on the second floor of the building for private parties and additional dining room space. WEST END A family reunion was held Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Lutes. YOUTH WHO STOLE AUTO RELEASED FROM JAIL Charles Wisenburgh, Indinnap s youth who was captured last week near North Webster after he had returned to the North Webster vicinity in an automobile stolen previously from William Gerard, has been released from the county jail on his own recognizance. He is to report to the prosecuting attorney of the county each month for two years. When first arrested he gave his name as Ralph Jackson. Officers believed the name to be assumed and under a grilling he finally admitted his true identiy. He told authorities that he had run away from home. He was formerly engaged as a life guard at Camp Crosley and knowing the vicinity he had come to North Webster. He gave no explanation of what prompted him to steal the automobile. i COMMERCIAL CLUB HAS MEETING -1 The North Webster Commercial Club held their regular monthly meeting at the school house Monday evening. No business was transacted but the members enjoyed a social, evening. There has been a lack of interest in the organization recently, members claim, and no definite progressive project is underway.
