HARRY L. PORTER, JR. Editor and Publisher Office Phone 4 — Home Phone 984 THURSDAY, DEC. 4, 1034 MAIN STREET WHITTLINGS Concerning the matter of people walking down the middle of North Huntington street instead of on the sidewalk, and thus becoming liable to injury in automobile accidents, a local woman said this week that she didn’t know if there’ was any more danger from automobile accidents# on the road than to permanent injury from use of the sidewalk after dark. Those who have used the walk know from the top of the hill north, it goes in waves and appears at various elevations. The woman who expressed her distrust of the walk lost two heels from her shoes after dark, one night this past week, just because a tree trunk had pushed the sidewalk out of place. The town is saving on lights—and besides needing leveling, the sidewalk needs lighting. She said after falling, and finding both heels missing from her shoes, she spent the rest of the night wondering how a pushing a baby carriage could get up the steps of the sidewalk on the hill just north of Main street. And wondering why some of this governmental expenditure of money couldn’t do something of use to everyone—like building new sidewalks in Syracuse, as North Huntington street is only one of all the streets in town where the sidewalks are a hazard. . Or she’s going to sue the town board for new heels on her shoes. marriage Announced Miss Dorothy Rhodes and Robert Kitaon of Dixon, Illinois, were united in marriage Sunday at the Grace Evangelical church in Dixon. They left immediately after the ceremony for South Bend, Ind., where they visited his uncle, Arthur Daily and family. On Monday they came to Syracuse and visited his grandfather, B. F. Kitaon and hie aunt, Mrs. Ida M. Jensen and family. Mr. Kitson is the second son of Floyd Kitson, formerly of this place.
