TO POSTPONE (Continued from Page One) pear in Warsaw to prevent the tax sale. Officers have said it necessary the state militia would be called out. : Members of the Warsaw American ' Legion post were sworn in as deputies so serve last Saturday, if needed, when property, advertised for sale for non-payment of debts, was sold, ; They were not needed however, as ’ these sales were quiet. It wes stated by officials yesterday, that others are accused with Mr. and Mrs. Tiala and Jesse Hann, and affidavits for their arrest are isI sued. Whether they will be arrested today or not is not known. Attorney Brubaker will assist Prosecutor Seth Rowdabaugh in prosecuting this case. It was indicated that the three prisoners were brought back from either “Michigan City or the jail in South Bend, where they have been held," to Warsaw, yesterday. Investigation of Alfred Tiala has been made by federa 1 authorities, j II When questioned he admitted being; j a communist. United States immigration service officials of the department of labor procured this statement from Tiala, who said under oath that he is a paid organiser of the Communist party. He admitted that during the Wodd War he refused to serve in the United St tes Army, and in the role of a conscientious objector was placed in ■ jail in Minneapolis, where he was held 10 months. . He swears he was born at Koto, Minn. This statement is being checkled, and if it is found Tiala is of Foreign birth, he will be deported. Send Letters. Many communications from members of his party all over the country, signed from the United Farmers League, have bgen sent to officials on duty in Warsaw, and two have been received this week by the Syracuse Journal. The last communication received here stated in part: “Due to the cold weather which has kept many farmers indoors, bail has not been raised as yet, the United Farmers League reports and urges Indiana farmers to get behind the campaign to free those in jail. In the letter to the sheriff, the organization stated that “The arrest of these three - militant farmers is an attack upon American agricultural population. We demand their immediate release.” In the letter to the judge the demand was: that the charges against these three persons be dropped and said the organisation 'pledged full support to impoverished farmers and ( workers of Indiana. The letter further demanded “that ' all evictions of farmers in your counity be immediately stopped. ” The letters are signed by Charles ! ■ E. Taylor, national chairman of the I executive council of the United j Farmers League. — U JUDGE IN ACCIDENT Judge Donald Vanderveer escaped ] > injury, although his car was wreck- ! | ed in an accident on road 15, yesterI day, wheS he was on his way home to Milford from Warsaw. The judge said this morning that just as his car struck a bit of icy pavement, there was an unusually heavy gust of wind, which had been high all day, and the wheels of the machine whirled unmanageable, throwing the car into the side of a culvert, and then the machine turned over. —oMARRIAGE ANNOUNCED Announcement is being made of the marriage of Ruth Steinmetx, daughter of Mr. and Mr*.
