ANNUAL ELKHART COUNTY FAIR WILL BE HELD FROM SEPTEMBER 2nd TO 6th
GOSHEN, Ind., August 13.—Sep. tember 2 the gates to Elkhart county’s biggest event of the year, the annual Elkhart county fair, will be receiving thousands that come annually. The fair this year will be held September 2 to 6, with day and night programs. The grounds and the buildings were never in better shape for a fair than they are this year. V. V. secretary of the fair association stated. Some buildings have been repaired and there has been a liberal use of paint on the others. Interest is as keen as usual in the coming event and Mr. Swartz is confident that the 1930 fair will be one of the most successful on record. The music lovers will have the opportunity- to hear the Elkhart countyhigh school band, A. R. Jinks, director. The track enthusiasts will have the privilege of witnessing nine of the best harness races ever staged on a half mile track. Between races the spectators will be entertained byfree high class vaudeville acts. The lovers of live stock will find entertainment to their liking in going" from one livestock building to another and viewing the wonderful animals on exhibition. Numerous

Reunion Is Held On Papakeetchie t - The seventh annual reunion of Northern Indiana and Southern Michigan Alumni of Wittenberg college, w-as held at the summer home of Professor Franklin H.. McNutt, on Lake Papakeetchie, Thursday, July 31st. Professor McNutt is director of teacher’s training at the Wittenberg College in Springfield, O. Fifty guests attended the reunion, among; these being Dr, Keck, president of the Michigan Synod of Lutheran churches. When officers were elected for the coming year, Professor McNutt was chosen president, and Mrs. Emma Bartholomew, who lives near Goshen, was made secretary-treasurer. Four H Clubs of Elkhart will exhibit their livestock again this year, assuring fair goers some of the best stock exhibited in years. Then there will be the fnany interesting and beautiful displays in the women’s building, agricultural and horticultural buildings. The night entertainment this year promises to be one of the most magnificent ever staged at a conty fair. Thousands of dollars worth of fireworks will be presented for the spectators’ entertainment along with the free acts. A different program will be presented each night of the fair. Tuesday night, September 2, “Old Ironsides at Tripoli,” depicting the famous fight between the pirates and Old Ironsides, and nine other scenes will be presented; Wednesday, “The Land of Happiness”; Thursday, “The Tropical Storm” and nine other scenes; Friday, “The Goose that laid the Golden Egg” and Saturday,- “St. George and the Dragon.” Season tickets for the Elkhart Co. fair have been placed on Sale at the various trade centers throughout the county.
