Miller spent Sunday in New Paris with Mrs. Clara Wolf Haskill Kitson attended the Elkhart county band reunion in Goshen Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. John Walton attended the Holy reunion at Albion Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. John Richards of So. Bend, former residents of Syracuse, spent Sunday here. Mrs. Warren Ruple went to Indianapolis last Thursday for a few days visit wjth friends there. Mrs. G. W. Gunderlock and Mrs. A. A. Beach were Goshen and Elkhart shoppers last Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Eston Clayton and daughter Lucy were Sunday dinner guests at the Fred Hinderer home! Miss Nell Sprague spent Tuesday afternoon and evening with Mrs. Deane Lease in Ligonier. Mr. and Mrs? Walter L. Smith and son and daughter will leave Phoenix, Ariz„ Friday, starting their drive to Syracuse, where they will visit Mr. Smtih’s sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. William Bowld. Mrs. Harry Judriy was operated on for appendicitis in the Elkhart hospital last Wednesday. She is recovering nicely. Mrs. Dwight Gants and two children of Elkhart, who are on vacation at Dewart Lake, called on Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Hamman, Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Tillman HiYe and Henry Tully drove to Wilmot Sunday to attend the birthday party of their nephew, Clarence Hickman. Burket spent Sunday in South Bend with Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Eherenman. Their grandson Carl returned home with them to spend s week here in Syracuse. Mrs. Arthur Hill is going to Harvey, 111., where she is to be matron of honor at the wedding of her friend, Miss Edna Gridley, on Saturday. Columbus Disher, Jr., came from Toledo, 0., Tuesday to spend a week with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Columbus Disher, Sr. Mrs. Disher has been quite ill at her home this past week. Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Halsey returned home to Memphis, Tenn., Sunday morning, after a month’s, stay with Mr. and Mrs. William Bowld. They took William Bowld, Jr., with them for a visit. > Miss Ida Deardorff of Chicago spent Sunday in Syracuse. She reported that her mother, Mrs: Lydia Deardorff is recovering rapidly at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ben Julier, of Goshen. William Beckman is on a vacation. He left Sunday morning for Higginsville, Missouri, to visit his brother, Fred. He expects to visit his other brother Henry, in Omaha, Neb., before returning home. James Carey and his friend hitch hiked from Frankfort, Ind., reaching Syracuse Tuseday morning. They will spend two or three days here with Carey’s uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Hallie Holloway, and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Clee Younce of Elkhart spent Sunday With Mr. Younce’s mother, Mrs. Sarah Younce. The children had spent last week with their grandmother, and returned home to Elkhart Sunday with their parents. Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Emerson were Mr. Emerson’s sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. G. D. McLaughlin and Mrs. Art Carlson of Chicago, and Mr. McLaughlin’s mother and Mrs. Fogel of South Bend. I. Other guests'were Mr. and Mrs. Ira Gants of Warsaw, Johnsee Hess, of Oakland, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. U’. C. Gants, and Mrs. Edna Hess of Syracuse. Marshall Rowdabaugh ran a nail almost through his foot last Thursday. Barefoot, he was in the cellar looking for boards to build a pen for his rabbits, when he stepped on a board with a nail in it. The doctor gave him anti tetanus serum to prevent lockjaw. Hilary Bachman returned home Friday evening, bringing with him from Bloomington, 111., his sisters, Miss Virginia Bachman, Harriet, Laura and Lucy. Mrs. Celesta Hillabold, who had made the trip with the party last Wednesday, remained for a visit with Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Brian. Mr. and Mrs. W. F.fcßowld of Memphis, Tenn., who have been guests of Mr. ajid Mrs. William Bowld this last month, left for Cincinnati, Q., Monday morning. The next day Mr. Bowld showed the fishermen how it should be done, landing a 7 x g pound pickeral on Lake Wawsaee, just north of Waco.
