Johnson is some improved from her illness. Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Unrue were in Garrett Sunday visiting a sister. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Klink spent the week end in South Bend. Scotty Hallett has the mumps, at the home of his grandmother, Mrs. Scott, at Plymouth. Mrs. Anna Crow is very ill at the home of her son, Charles Crow. Dr. Philip Bowser, of Goshen, a son of Mrs. J. H. Bowser, who has been sick is improving. Mrs. S. R. Laughlin spent last week at her former home at Matthews, Ind. Rev. Johnson and family from Washington. D. C., are at their cottage at Kale Island. Robert Hinderer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Hmderer has the mumps. Ellwood George left for Indianapolis to undergo an opera tion in a hospital there. Mrs. Mae Hoelcher started her work in the Pine Tree Inn for the summer. Wayne Hoelcher and wife spent* Sunday in the Wingarde home. • ' Dr. and Mrs. Winegardner of Goshen spent Sunday afternoon in the J. N. Winegard home. Miss Mary Jensen returned with her aunt and uncle to Lima, Ohio, for a visit with' them. Mrs. Daniel Wolfe is having her mother, of Bourbon, as her guest this week.' Mrs. Walter Ritter and family took Sunday dinner with her mother, Mrs. Clara Jarrett. Mrs. E. Holloway arid daughter, Mrs. Orval Klink, were in Elkhart Tuesday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Owens and son John spent Sunday with relatives here. Mr. and Mrs. Foxford and daughter Myrtle, spent Sunday in Fort Wayne. Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Byland are moving to the Pat Ritter house across the tracks, in order to be nearer his store. Mr. and Mrs. Sam Razor were in Goshen Sunday. They took their granddaughter, Evelyn Buhrt, home with them. Mrs. George Bowersox returned home from Hollywood, Cal,, where she has been visiting her son and daughter-in-law. Miss Acquilla Wyatt and a friend from Akron spent Sunday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Reuch, at Milford. Dr. and Mrs. J. C. Hayes qf Silver Lake spent Sunday with their daughter, Mrs. 0. G. Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Kitson and family near New Paris spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. James Druckamiller. Mrs. A. B. Stookey of Leesburg has been here visiting Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Dillon. She will leave for her home Sunday. John Evert Holloway is here from Fort Wayne visiting his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E. Holloway. MrsM). Bartholomew went to 1 visit her sister, Mrs. A. E. Coy, near North Webster, for a few days. M ss Itloise Bouse returned to her home at Silver Lake after visiting the past week’with O. G. Carr and family. Miss Betty Landis of Chicago 1 came Saturday to spend her vacation week with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Mart Landis. Dick Geiger returned to Silver Lake Sunday afternoon,, after spending, the week end with his family here. Mr. and Mrs. Orlando Plank and son Lester of north of town spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Jess Darr and family. Mrs. Walter Kegg, school census enumerator, has completed her work. Her report will be given later. Miss Lucy Clayton and Master Jimmie Butt spent Thursday with their aunt, Mrs. D. L. Brown. Ernest Richhart, Jr., of South Bend, spent Sunday here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. Richhart. Mesdames Sol Miller, Ralph Thornburg and John Grieger were in Goshen Monday and called on Mrs. Nelson Miles at the hospital. C. W. Freeman and wife, and his brother and family are occupying the Wiade Zerbe cottage on Wawasee while the men are employed with the McClintic, CoL 'well & Gordy contractors.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Klink went to South Tuesday. Mrs. Green accompanied them as far as Goshen. Harold J. Bowser of Cleveland, was here over the week end to visit his mother, Mrs. J. H. Bowser. Roy Darr, of St. Louis spent the week end here with his wife, then left Monday night for Pittsburg. $ Mr. and Mrs. Henry Grieger, of Hanna, Ind., spent this week at the lake and visiting his brother John Grieger and family. Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln of Columbus, Ind., are at their cottage at Lake Wawasee. They are remodeling their cottage. Mr. and Mrs. Ackerman and Mr. and Mrs. Fishack of Ft. Wayne, were at the Fishack cottage over the week end. Mr. G. W. Rarig, who has been ill, is better and has gone to his son George, at Wawasee, for the week. 'he Past Chief’s Club will meet at the home of Mrs. Sue Bowser on May 21, instead of on May 7, as had been planned. Mrs. Nora Phebus was in Ligonier Sunday where she spent the day with her daughter, Mrs. Earl Knett. Harry Hire, a delegate from the Evangelical church here went to Fort Wayne Wednesday to attend the conference. Mrs. Howard Bowser *and daughter, Helen, are spending the week here with Mrs. J. H. Bowser. Miss Violet Falk and Mrs. Guy Hoover spent Saturday afternoon in Cromwell visiting a friend. Miss Pauline Dull. Mrs. Howard Bowser and her daughter, Helen, are spending the week here with Mrs. J. H. Bowser. ' . Mrs. A. M. Strieby went to I South Bend Wednesday to be with her sister, Mrs. Isenbarger, the remainder of the week. Martha and Edna Leacock came over for the weiner roast given by their Sunday School class on Friday night. Over the week end Mrs. Owen Strieby had as guests, her father, brother and two sisters, whose ' home is in Decatur. I I Mrs. L. D. William G« Connolly made a trip to the southeastern part of Ohio last week. He went thru the pottery works at East Liverpool, Mr. and Mrs. George Mellinger and guests, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Bell of Chicago, spent Sunday afternoon in Pottawotami Park with Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Hire. Miss Edna Stauffer, a niece of Mr. Winegard, who motored from Pittsburg to Chicago, stopped in the Winegard home Sunday.
Born, to Mr. and Mrs. Nelson : Miles, a daughter, Elizabeth Weltey, Saturday morning in the Goshen hospital. Ethel Johnson, of Chicago, spent Sunday here with her mother, Mrs. C. W. Johnson, and her sister, Mrs. Emory Kindig, and family. Mr. and Mrs. Fleming, with mother and daughter, drove from Ypsilanti, Mich., to spend Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Strieby. Mr. and Mrs. Ira Kehr and Mrs. Kehr’s mother, Mrs. Mary Stull, were in Elkhart Saturday visiting Mr. and Mrs. William Scheiber. Mrs. Stull will remain in Elkhart for awhile. Mrs. Laura Launer, who has been the past few weeks, has gone to Indianapolis to her daughter, Ruth Powell. She will remain there for an indefinite length of time. Mrs. L. D. Jensen received a card from her sister, Mrs. Asa Turner, of Denver, Colo., who underwent an operation about two weeks ago, stating that she is improving nicely. Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Miller were I called to the home of his mother, Mrs. Sarah Miller, who suffered a severe heart attack last week. Her condition remains about the same. Mrs. Malinda Whistler gave a dinner Sunday for Mr. and Mrs. Mart Landis and Betty Landis, Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Bailey and children and Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Whistelr. Miss Edith Burket is spending her week’s vacation here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Burket. Miss Joan Eherenman, a granddaughter, is also spending this week here. C. H. Pfingst, of Chicago, returned home Wednesday after spending a few days with his mother, Mrs. Ada Pfingst. and ' brother, A. A. Pfingst, and his family. Yesterday, Wednesday, closed the fishing season until June 16. Many fisherman have taken advantage of the few weeks of good weather, and quite a few nice catches have been reported. Class No. Four of the Grace Lutheran church, taught by Miss Myrtle Foxford enjoyed a treasure hunt and weiner roast Friday night at Indian Hill. All present report a wonderful time. Mrs. Henry Snobarger and her mother, Mrs. 0. Bartholomew, were in Elkhart visiting relatives over the week end. Mrs, Snobarger returned home and her mother remained for a longer visit. The B. & O. railroad has issued their monthly statement of earnings and expenses for the month of March as follows: Operatingrevenue, $20,253,323; operating expenses, $14,928,731; leaving a net revenue of $5,324,592, The Leacock children have gone to the farm to spend their summer vacation with their father, however, Martha and Edna Leacock were back for the weiner roast given by their Sunday school class on Friday night. Mrs. Sam Rasor called on Mrs. Nora Phebus, Mrs. Phebus has returned from Milford where she has been visiting her niece, Mrs. Melvin Lingofelter. Mr. and Mrs. Lingofelter are the parents of a ten-pound baby boy born April 24th. Mr. Paul Le went to Toledo last Friday and spent the week end there. Mrs. Le Count who has been in Toledo the past two weeks with her sister, who underwent an operation, returned home Sunday with Mr. Le Count. Mrs. R. G. Foust and daughters Harriett and Frieda, are spending the week in. Van Wert, Ohio, with Mrk. Foust’s parents. Rev. R. G. Foust is attending the Evangelical conference in Fort Wayne, the latter part of this week.

Dr. and Mrs. A. H. Arbaugh received a cablegram from Germany Tuesday evening saying that their son George is still in the hospital, but that he is improving and they think farther operations will be unneccessary. Those from out of town who attended the funeral of Mrs. Thomas Jensen, mother of L. D. Jensen, were Ray and Donald McClintic of Toledo, Ohio, Paul McClintic of Akron, Ohio, Mr. and Mrs. Dallas McClintic of Chicago. Mrs. Worley, mother of Mrs. Wm. Kindig, who has been in poor health the past few months, was able to accompany Mr. and Mrs. Kindig to their cottage on Monday evening. Col. O. P. Robison, commandant of Reserve Offivers Training camp at Indiana University, has announced the promotion of cadets to non-commissioned officers, and among those promoted is Prentice Kindig of Syracuse, a student at the University.
