CLYDE I. LOWE Candidate for Republican Nomiuatiqn for Clerk of the Kosciusko Circuit Court Statement to Republican Voters: To the Republican voters of Kosciusko county I wish to say that I have been a voter and tax payer for the last twenty-nine years. I was born and reared on the farm of my father, the late Benjamin Lowe just 2A miles northwest of Warsaw. Shortly alter leaving the farm I became actively engaged in business and for many years owned and operated what is known as the Dutch Grocery in Warsaw. For the last two years I have been and am now secretary of the Kosciusko County Fair Association. Two years ago I was a candidate for nomination as Clerk of the Circuit Court. Illness in my family handicapped me in making a thorough canvass, yet in that race I ran a very close second. From the time I gained my majority I have always been active and enthusiastic in Republican affairs and ever a booster for the election of the Republican ticket. In bringing my name to the attention of the Republicans of the county I should feel sincerely honored for their support in the Primary next Tuesday, May 8. and will greatly appreciate that support. My zeal for the success of the and Republican principles will never abate. I thank you in advance. (Adv.) CLYDE U. LOWE. o For Mother’s Day A new portrait of Father would make her happy. WILLIAM GRAY LOEHR Prosecuting Attorney. For Sheriff Editor Syracuse Journal: Please announce to the voters of Kosciusko County that I respectfully ask their consideration as a candidate for nomination for Sheriff, subject to the decision of the Republicans at the primary May 8, 1928. LLOYD DISHER. o SENT TO PRISON . Clyde A. Walb, former chairman of the Republican state committee and former vice president of the First National bank of LaGrange, and Valentine D. Weaver , former president of the bank, left Fort Wayne at 4:18 o’clock Friday afternoon on their way to federal prison at Leavenworth, Kan., to begin serving their terms for defrauding the LaGrange bank. Both men were residents of LaGrange. They were in the custody of John Voegtlin, deputy United States marshal. Walb was sentenced to serve a term of four years by Federal Judge Walter Lindley of Danville, 111., Friday morning. Weaver was given a sentence of two and one-half years. Neither man was fined.
PROSECUTOR'S STATEMENT Because of illness with the flu. together with the ur- 1 gent business of the prosecutor’s 1 office which I could not neglect, it has been impossible for me to make a thorough canvass of our county and I take this' method and opportunity to reach the voters and ask their support May 8, for law enforcement. It has always heretofore been customary to give the prosecuting attorney a second term without opposition if his record is good. And I ask my second term upon my record to date. Here it is: . I Gave filed more affidavits, in one day, in one week, one month, and in my first year, than any other prosecutor of the county has ever filed in the given time in the history of our county. We put $2300 in fines and forfeitures into the school fund in four days. .The Judge set 26 cases to try in 10 days and by working dili-. gently we were able to handle all which is more than previous ones had done. Since the new dealin the Warsaw police department the prosecutors office with the Circuit 'Court.and Sheriff, with the Ciiy Court and Police, with the Justice Courts and their Constables, have been cooperating fine for ' law’ enforcement. The Circuit Court for April term shows convictions for cases tried. The Chief of Police report for three months past shows 30 convictions in 30 cases. The Justice records are about the same; with one constable we have the record of 43 arrests with 40 convictions. With this continued cooperation for two more years, and I am willing to do my part, all the criminals will reform, move out or be in prison. Then Kosciusko will be the best county in the state in which to live, our lives will be happier, our property safer, and our homes and farms of more value. I am for it and if you are—SAY IT WJTH YOUR VOTE. The only way to stop this crime wave in the U. S. is to enforce the law. We can start here to set the example. I am try mg to do it. My opposition three out of four belong to one of the following classes: 1. Those or their relatives who have been convicted of a law violation because I did my duty and so they do not like, me. 2. Those who are violating the law and know full w'ell that the evidence in shape to go to court and conv.ct them. 3. Those who have tried to use the prosecutor’s office to do spite work or I to use criminal arrest to collect I civil claims and I have refused to i be their tool. I have conducted my office j fairly, honestly and with a good ! conscience. It is a hard place to I fill. It guarantees $41.67 pay per I month with all the curses of all | the crooks thrown in for good ' measure. It will take tfie votes i of the good citizens of the county jto sweeten it up a bit. I have ■ the confidence in you all to do ! the right thing by me on May 8. Truly, WILLIAM GRAY LOEHR, Your Prosecuting Attorney. Dear friends: .; Being a real “dirty farmer” it will be impossible for me to visit you at this season of the year. Also because of the amount of pay connected with the office (being paid for only two months) 1 would not be justified in going to any extra expense to get the job. Because of the knowledge and experience gained as well as the acquaintances made during the two terms I have served as your Representative has fitted me to

serve you better in the future than in the past. , My record shows that I have always been a hard worker for your interests. particularly .aggressive in securing something for Kosciusko county from the state in the way qf hard surfaced roads or a state institution. My seniority position on the finance committee gives me an opportunity to win favors for our county. If nominated and elected I will insist that State Road No. 15 be paved across the county at once. I stand for the enforcement of present laws. . We need few if any more laws. Some need to be amended. I am opposed to raising the bonding limit of any civil unit because it would result in higher taxes and our <tax burden is too heavy now. , I pledge myself A to vote against every measure that would cause an increase in our taxes.. 4 drove always been a member of tjhe Farm Bureau, have their endorsement and that I will support their program goes without saying. I am a member of the Christ; ian church, have always worked in harmony with the W. C. T. If nominated and elected I pledge myself to give the same conscientious, diligent service in the future as in the past. Yours truly, FORREST KNEPPER. (Adv.)
