EGYPT Egypt refuses to admit that its anmy or frontiers are in any way the concern of the British government or that the demand to exercise supervision and control over them can justly be based on the leservations regarding the defense of Egypt foreign aggression, protection ol British imperial communicationi through Egypt and the interests of foreigners resident in Egypt. The Egyptians contend that unless, allowed control of their own army the declaration of independence was > mockery. Aside frqm her railway anc business interests Great Britain has no more right to control th< army of Egvpt or dominate it? affairs than it has that of the United States Her policy, how ever, is to grab and to hold b force of arms any defenseles> that it can lay hands on —and Egypt may be brought to terms via the bomb route regardless of the League of Nations or World Court.

POULTR Y TIPS FROM PURDUE SPECIALIST John Janes says—" Egg prices are low and feel is getting high- , er, but my hens are laying fine and I am getting back $2.00 for every dollars worth of ’ feed I giVat them. I don’t know what I’d do if it weren’t for my flock >f .wood hens.” Bill BrvWn say^—"Feed is high and eggs are worth nothing flat. Tnese hens are eating their head off ami the poultry business s overdone. I’m going to sell the whole outfit.” Two fartners in the same Indiana Commnuity made these remarks last week. Someone is wrong. The poultry industry is in a period of changed circumstance atfthis time. Eg;s are lower than thev have bean for several years The chances are that »rices will not be as in tre !a‘e summer and fall as in past vears. Feed prices are on the increase and they mav be either slightly lower or higher as the ve r grows old r. Poultry profits probably will not be as high luring th ? next year as they have been in the past. This is not the first time that older poultn keepers have facet! the same situation and probably will not be the last. Periods of oxer and under production seem to right themselves m a short t n' usually from two to three ye-'rs «n th? close grade and the same ieneth of time on the upgrade. We are probably near the k>w point and the poultry prices can be expected to readjust themselves gradually. It is all very fine to ■worry about the good of the world in general, but the chief problem is what shall Ido about it We believe the following suggestions are safe and sound. Start culling now and cull every six weeks during the summer and fall. Sell all non-layers each time the flock is culled. FREAK CALF Williamsport, Ohio.— A purebred Holstein cow, direct descendant of a long line of pedi, grced stock, has given birth to a caif which has two heads, three eyes, four ears, two hearts, and two complete sets of leg muscles. Livestock experts have advanced the opinion that the calf was destined to be twins, but through ;onr*e quec • freak of nature, came into this world in one body. John W. Kannanen, owner of the freak, has been offered $1,900 for the animal dead or alive, by the Cleveland museum, while a New York freak show has offered $1,500. So far he hos refused all offers and is expected to take the calf on a shoxv toqr of the country this summer. Hie hair on the animal is about two inches long, very shag v and resembles that of a dojs’. It has two outside eyes and two eyes in one socket directly n the center of the head and twv noses. It was bom with two eais. but two more have started to grow as have two extra horns. It stands about three feet high and is of normal weight. Because of two tongues, two sets of teeth and two sets of jay muscles, the animal has a difficult time eating. The handicap of double muscles prevents it from completely closing its mouth. The animal is of ordinary intelligence. It follows the children on the farm about when it sees them approaching with food it runs to meet them. Considerable difficult)' is experienced by the animal in locomotion. The d >uble muscles do not seem to co-ordinate and the calf s progress is slow and laborious. Most of the time the animal stands very stiff. The huge eye in the middle of the two heads is slowly deteriorating and it is believed the sight of this organ will soon be lost. The freak nearly died a few months ago. Its hair became so ’ong it hj»d to be clipoed and as a result the calf caught cold, o — MOTICE TO HEIRS. CREDITORS, ETC. In the matter of the estate of Mary E. o WHEAT PRODUCTION IFor the fifth consecutive year Qmada’s wheat crop per acre has exceeded that of the United • States. In 1926 Canada produced 17.8 bushels per acre and the United only 14.7 bushels. This rmv be due, to some extent, to • the fact that Canadian wheat lands are newer; it certainly is I not due to better methods. On the other hand the wheat yield of France was more than 20 bushels per acre —from lands that have been worked for two thousand years This result was due to moie intensive cultivation and fe-tilizers. Preservation of the soil is a problem that must be taken into consideration if future generations and populations are to be fed, and from present indications it is a question for governments rather than individuals. ; In fret the whole food problem should be a government business. o SAVING WILD LIFE l A national movement is being organized asking motorists to coi operate in saving lives of birds and wild animals on the highThe annual toll of wild birds, domestic fowl, squirrels, rabbits and other wild life frokrt death 1 by motor cars is tremendous. ; There is need for great care in saving livea of dogs and cats from destruction as well as lar- ' ger animals which because of ’ their siie frequently wreck cars.
