POTATO GROWING It is coming to be well known that large quantities of potatoes 3.e yearly shipped into Indiana from other states. It is also gradually being demonstrated to Hoosiers that Indiana can grow as good potatoes as any part of the United States. They are being urged to “grow their own” and keep the money at home. This year’s potato exhibit not only insists on the necessity of using certified seed, but shows Fiat the potatoes must be graded and of first quality if they are to be disposed of to best advantage. TRAIN RE-EQUIPPED The Baltimore and Railroad Company has completely er-equipped the Capitol Limited, its premier all-Pullman train between Washington and Chicago, advancing it one step further in comfort of travel. Among the chief innovations in th : s new equipment are additional conveniences such as lockers in compartments for hoes so that porters may get them for polishing without- disturbing the passengers. Porce!ain washbowls have replaced the metal ones and additional shelf space has been provided in the vashrooms. In the open sections, seats are so designed as to provide more space, affording greater freedom, and the icing f compartments is done from the aisles without disturbance. FORT WAYNFS POPULATION Fort Wayne has a population of 109,542, according the new city directory which is now being printed.- There are 54,771 names in the directory, the city’st population being estimar ted by multiplying the names by two in order, to allow for married women and children whose names do not appear in the enumeration. The new directory Shows that there are 172 miles of paved streets in Fort Wayne and 226 miles of paved sidewalks.
