Fred Hinderer gathered six-tv-two mushrooms. They weighed two and one-fourth pounds. Mrs. Clifford Foster and two children, of South Bend, are spending two weeks here tn the home of Mr. and Mrs. P.L. Foster. Mr. and Mrs. Ira Mock, of Plymouth, were in this city on Memorial Day and visited a while with their aunt. Grandma Hamman. Mrs. Kitson moved her household goods to Goshen on Monday. Mrs. Kitson is the mother of Cassel Kitson, living near Syracuse. Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Insley moved their household goods todiv (Thursday) into the Ed. McClintic residence on Huntington Mrs. J. A. Hire, living on the north side of Lake Wawasee, spent Memorial Day in town with her daughter, Mrs. John Mench. Mrs. Bertha Crane, of Chicago, spent the week end in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Rasor. Harold Bowser, of Cleveland, Ohio, spent Decoration Day here with, his mother, Mrs. J. H. Bowser.* Miss Ruth Lepper returned home on Tuesday from Champaign, 111., where she completed her second year in the conservatory of music. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Humbert and three daughters, of Indianapolis, spent Decoration Day here in the home of her aunt, Mrs. Leon Rosezelle. Miss Lucy Freeman arrived home on Monday from Chambersburg, Penn., where she comoleted her first year in Penn Hall Seminary. Mrs. Clinton Bushong and children of Bremen are visiting with her mother, Mrs. Dora McFall, who has been seriously ill for several mqnths. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. O. Snyder and daughter, Phyllis, of Toledo, Ohio, and Mrs. Otto Walters, of Bremen, visited with Mrs. Lucy 3utt on Sunday. Mrs. L. T. Heerman, Mrs. Frances Culler and Mrs. Merritt Shearer spent Wednesday afternoon in South Bend, guests of Mrs. Irvin Treesh. Dr. and Mrs. Phillip Bowser and her mother, Mrs. Johnson, of Goshen, were guests heie on Memorial Day of his mother, Mrs. J. H. Bowser. Mr. and Mrs. Matt Abts, of Milwaukee, Wis., motored down on Friday and opened her mother’s, Mrs. Amanda L. Xander’s cottage at the lake. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bornmann and Mr. and Mrs. Moe, of Chicago, came on Friday and visited until Monday at the Bornmann cottage at the lake. Mrs. Nelson Miles returned to her home here last Thursday from Columbia Xhty, where she taught school the past year, the school having closed. Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Gibson returned to their home in Chicago on Sunday after spending Decoration Day here in the home of his brother, D. L. Gibson. Mr. and Mrs. Mil ton Moore and Mrs. Maggart, of Cromwell, were in the audience on Decoration Day to hear the memorial address by Dr. R. E. Tulloss.

W. T. Colw’ell attended the Masonic Grand Lodge meeting at Indianapolis last week. He went as a delegate from the Syracuse lodge. The delegates visited the Masonic home at Franklin, Ind. A large number of Lutheran people from Nappanee, Grom-' well", Goshen, Elkhart, and otherpoints were in Syracuse last Friday to hear President Tulloss address at the Memorial Day gathering. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Casey and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Mclntyre and son. of Auburn, and Mr. and Mrs. Jordan, of FL Wayne, spent Sunday here as guests of Mrs. Ida Knorr and Dr. and Mrs. Cunningham. Mr. and Mrs. F. T. Eyman, of Goshen, were guests on Wednesday of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Dolan. Mr. and Mrs. Eyman just recently returned home from California. where they had been for some time. The ladies of the Bridge Club enjoyed a delightful bridge luncheon at The Tavern on Wednesday afternoon. Following the luncheon they spent the afternoon at the home of Mrs. Stephen Freemen. Mr. arid Mrs. “Shorty” Betts and daughter, of Chicago, visited over Decoration Day with her mother, Mrs. Mel Cable. Another daughter, Mrs. Stella Swartz, of Chicago, also visited here with her mother. Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Skear, of Ft. Wayne, came on Saturday to visit in the home of her sister, Mrs. W. M. Darr. On Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Darr and their guests motored about four hundred miles up into Michigan. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Bailey and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bailey and Harry. Jr., came on Friday from Kalamazoo, visit in the home of Louis Bailey’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Bailey. They returned home on Sunday. Miss Ethel Johnson came last Thursday evening to spend the week end with her parents, Mr. { and Mrs. C. W. Johnson, and in the home of her sister, Mrs, Emory Kindig and family. She returned home Sunday evening. Mrs. Violett Sheets, who has been in Bush Temple Conservatory all year, studying voice, piano and dancing, returned to Syracuse Tuesday night and will spend the entire summer with her mother, E. L. Striebv. j Mr. and Mrs. Ross Osborn and Miss Elizabeth Bitehong went to Indianapolis on Wednesday. Mr. Osborn is the delegate from Turkey Creek township to the Democratic State Convention, which) is being held in that city Wednesday and Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Wilmet Jones and two children of' Jones’ Landing, and Mr. and Mrs. George Stacker and four children, of Leesburg. Mrs. Chauncey Cory and children and Mrs. Minnie Marvel) visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Cory on Sunday. j Among those who attended the funeral of Mrs. Bara Shocks on Sunday were Mrs. Jerry Hamman and daughter. From there they will go to Saltville, .Virginia, to visit their sister, Mrs. A. R. Schmerda. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Rohleder and two children, of Elkhart, Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Blue and son. Miss Gwendolyn Roser, cf Garrett returned home on Wednesday after a visit since last Thursday here as a guest of Miss Roberta Crew and Miss Henrietta Brunjes. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Kember left ofPfiunday for Goshen to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Fleming. Mr. and Mrs. Kember lefit for their home in Toledo, Ohio, on Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Stocker and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Stock,er, of Kokomo, motored up on Friday and visited over Sunday here in the heme of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Ott. Mrs. S. F. Humble and daughter. Miss’ Hester, of Milwaukee, Wis., left on Wednesday for Gary. They have guests of S. L. Ketripg and Mr. and Mrs. Sol Miller. The Rev. Wm. L. EileK pastor of the United Brethren Church is attending the Conference Ministerial Institute at Rochester. He left on Tuesday and will return Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bushong and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Bushong motored to Indianapolis on Sun day and visited with Miss Opal Geyer, who is a student in Miss Blaker’s school. Fred Lawton, of Detroit. Mich, was home over the week end on business, and incidentally calling c-n friends. Mr. Lawton was at cne time .connected with the cement factory. Mis. George Xanders wont to Howe, the first of the week, where she attended the commencement exercises of the Military Academy. She returned home on Tuesday. Misses Blanche and Margaret Connally came here from Bryan, Ohio, last Thursday and xpsited until Sunday here in the home of their uncle and aunt,, Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Connolly. Mr. and Mi’s. J. G. McConnell and Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Unser, of Chicago, returned home on Sunday by auto, after spending several days here in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Porter. v Walton and Lee Snyder, of Chicago, spent Thursday and Friday here visiting in the home of their cousin, Mrs. J. P. Dolan, and other relatives. They metered down. From here thev went to Ft. Wayne, to visit their brother, George Snyder. Rev. and Mrs. McMichael, accompanied by Miss Mabel Heckaman, of Naopanee, left by motor early Wednesday morning for Springfield. Ohio, to attend the commencement services at Wittenberg College. Rev. McMichael’s brother is among the graduating class at Wittenberg, j Mr. and Mrs. Sol. Miller and Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Freeman will leave on Sunday for Cleveland, Ohio, where thev will attend the National Republican Convention. , Mr. Miller has been appointed Sergeant-at-Arms, and has been presented with two tickets by the state chairman, Clyde Wahb/of Lagrange. Mrs. W. T. Colwell was hostess on Monday afternoon to the Woman’s Home Missionary Society of the M. E. church. After the* regular business tneeting and monthly program was disposed of, Miss Humble, a missionary and evangelistic worker in Chile, South America, gave a most interesting talk on her work in the foreign field. She told how difficult it is to accomplish anything among people who are not educated, yet these Chilean people are eager for the protestant religion. Miss Humble sang the “Holy City” in Spanish, which was-very much appreciated. Mrs. Colwell served refreshments.
