AGRICULTURAL STATISTICS Indianapolis, Ind., March 24.— Weather conditions, with alternating freezing and thawing, have been unfavorable to outdoor farm work, according to the semi-monthly report of George C. Bryant, agricultural statistician for Indiana, of the United States Department of Agriculture. Consequently very little plowing, except in some of the extreme southern counties of the state, has been done. “Because of the weather and road conditions,” the report con tinues, “but* little com has mov ed to market. Generally, however, farmers are not inclined to sell because of the feeling that there will be a shortage before the next crop. “Winter wheJat and rye are beginning to green up, hut some fields appear to be somewha! damaged. Clover has been badly damaged by the severe winter, but timothy meadows and pas--tures are in fair condition? “All livestock is in good condition. The farm labor situation is fairly satisfactory at this time. o ROBERT E. PLETCHER Funeral Director Ambulance Service Syracuse, Indiana. Telephone 75

11,M0 BENS TESTED » |- IN HANCOCK COUNTY! Greenfield, Ind., March 24. — A total of nearly 11,000 hens have been given the bacillary white diarrhoea test during the last several months by local hatcherymen and veterinarians, According to reports reaching M. E. Cromer, county agent, who is pushing the work. The men are using the agglutination test which shows whether the disease •s in the blood of a hen and thus transmitted to the baby chicks through hatching eggs. Extremely heavy losses have resulted in many flocks as a result the disease, and the tests have shown an high as 72 per cent of n flock of hens infected. Many have spread the disease unwittingly and a strenuous effort is being made to test all the flocks supplying eggs for the hatcher;es, thus getting at the source of the infection. o NOTICE TO NON-RESIDENTS State of Indiana.
