Mrs. Harry Vorhis underwent an operation at the Goshen hospital, Monday. Miss Cora Conolly who has been in very poor health was removed to an Indianapolis hospital. Miss Etta Crowl who has been very ill in the past four months, is in a grave condition. Ester Vail, Emmet Weaver and wife, and Mrs. Elva Doll and son were the guests of T. S. Sheffield, Sunday afternoon. Won’t Bother Fishing The Syracuse Civic League, we are told, was organized for one purpose only, a big worthy purpose which has already been fulfilled. It is not now bothering itself with anyone’s fiishing pleasures, or law for your neighbor’s chickens. There is some work to be done to improve the business conditions as well as the moral and we ought to cultivate a larger spirit of real brotherhood rather than a spirit of unmanly bickering in order to bring about the better things. Brissel May Be Released The court has been asked to; parole James Brissel, of Syracuse, i vsffio is serving a sixty-five days’ i sentence in the county jail for violation of the liquor laws. Brissel has served four weeks of his sentence, and Judge Bowser has taken the matter of the parole under advisement, The “wet” goods taken in a raid on Brissel’s ' hotel at Syracuse is still in the jail, and probably will be destroyed W edhesday Evangelical Church Bible school at 9.30 •At 11:00 the annual G. A. R. memorial services will be held, the { sermon to be preached by the J pastor. The pastors and congrega-; tions of the several churches and the public in general is requested ' to attend. Smoke Consumer Needed There is some talk of asking the town board to compel Marshall Hire to put a smoke consumer on his auto truck.
