Hoffman’s, went to Elkhart, Monday. Geo. W. Miles, who is ill at his home here, continues to grow weaker. Lillian Adams, who was 11 years old Saturday, entertained 18 friends in honof of the occasion. The Wednesday Afternoon Club met with Mrs. J. H. Bowser, this week. The Postoffice will remain open until 8:00 in the evening, Christinas week. Brunjes is now located in Chicago with offices at 3019 Indiana Avenue.. His brother, John, is studying stenography at a school in that city. “Dick” Brunjes fell at his home at Brunjes Park several weeks ago and sustained two broken ribs. He, with his wife and Mrs. John Brunjes and children shopped in Syracuse, Wednesday. Ice in the channel was about six inches thick, Wednesday, and around the shore of Syracuse lake it ranged from three to four inches. SETS COLLEGE RECORD ! PHILLIP BOWSER DOING GOOD WORK AT INDIANA The Bloomington Journal has the following to say of the excellei.t record being made by Phillip Bowser,. son of Dr. and- Mrs. J. H. Bowser: “Phillip Bowser, a Freshman in one of Director of Physical Training Kase’s classes at the University, has established a new Indiana University record in the high dive. In the gymnasium class this week with scarcely no practice Bowser made the high dive at 5 feet 7 inches. This establishes a new record at the University. Bowser according to Director Kase is one of the best men he has in his gymnasium classes. In contest for prizes lha’ have been started Bowser is one of the leaders. Kase said today that the first year man looks good for the Varsity gymnasium team next year. Mabel Badger is absent from school on account of illness. All the grades are making Xmas calendars or booklets this week. A lesson appropriate to the season (Christmas) was given in domestic science this week, that of candy making. The Goetis and Dempsey children are absent this week. Miss Bach will spend her Christmas vacation at her home. The regular basket ball team will play at Nappanee, Friday evening. The cold weather has detained a great number of the students of the school. The game last Friday evening resulted disastrously fur our team. The score being 42 and 14 in favor of Wolf Lake. Vacation begins Friday! Leland Henderson entered Miss McClary’s room, Thursday. The program conducted by Miss Franklin will begin at 2:00 p. m.
