A Clinton Rookstool and wife visited Ernest Rookstool and wife at Millersburg, Sunday. Walter Rex and family were the guests of relatives at Syracuse Sunday. John Smith of Syracuse, well known at thisJplace, is seriously ill with heart trouble. The manv friends of Mrs. WillUmbenhour, of South Bend, will be glad to hear she is improving. Miss Orpha Zimmer of New Paris, visited Bessy J uday a few days last week. John and Fred Ringwait spent Sunday with Merle Darr. Wilson Ott shipped two carloads of fat cattle to an eastern market. Juday at New Paris From what we hear Rov Worttnger and Grover Hilbish are getting to be expert horse back riders. John Good and family and Grandma Good spent Sunday at the home of Ed Good. Philmore Price and wife and Miss Fay Cruthers of Burr Oak, took dinner with Rev. Simon and wife. Lloyd Shock took a sled load to North 'Webster to church Monday and Thursday nights. Clell Line is again on our streets. Mrs. Arthur Jones and children went to Syracuse to spend Wednesday with friends. J. \V. Shock made a little visit to Syracuse and called on Charles L mrner and Allen Wright. He returned on the milk shake.. Miss Pauline Gerard has returned to Warsaw. \ Mrs. Nellie Garett has a quilt in, so come over and lend a helping hand. Wilmot is still improving. Bobsleds, sleighs, buggies and automobiles have all been seen on our streets in the past week. Virgil Preest and wife wish to thank their friends and neighbors for the flowers given for their son, Lewis. Mrs. Nobert from Michigan is visiting Frank Younces and Verd Shaffer. Mrs. Geo. Bailey accompained Virgil Preest and wife home Thursday in order to see his mother. Mrs. Yada Unrue spent Saturday and Sunday with Hazel Ott of New Paris. W. O. Cobb and family spent Sunday with their daughter, Fern Pittenger and family at Winona.
Cromwell, F. Freed of Wolf Lake was here Friday. Geo. Barnhart, Dale Barnhart and Lawyer Cole and wife were at Goshen, Sunday. Dr. Nye made a business trip to Elkhart, Friday. Miss Fredona Yager is absent from school on account of sickness.Miss Effie Waltman left Tuesday for an extended visit in Pennsylvania. Monroe played basket ball here Saturday and won the game. Brush up boys, you seem to be losing out. Roy Mayfield of Garrett was here Friday. Cromwell basket ball team lost at Nappanee, Friday, score 16 to 25. Franklin Kline re-entered school, Monday after a week’s absence. Misses Blanch and Myrtle Moore were entertained at the home of Harvey Hontz Thursday evening. Chas. Parsons received a broken rib Monday by being thrown against a manger by a horse.

Bert Whitehead has a portable sawmill in his woods getting out the big timbers for his new barn. Ed Coy and wife were at. Milford Sunday visiting the latter’s brother, George Bartholomew and family. Quite a number from the local school attended a box social and cake walk at Guy’s school Friday night. Edith Smith is visiting at Huntington, Ind., with relatives at this writing. Howard Watkins’s lost a horse last week; cause unknown. A. E. Coy took James Bortz and wife a sleigh ride Thursday. They enjoyed it very much. Dr. Bowser was called to the Mullen home Tuesday for the Watkins baby, it having the sore throat. Joe Smith and family took dinner with Mullen’s and Watkin’s Sunday. New Paris Route 1. Wm. Depew and Walter Newman assisted in some repair work at the Syracuse Light & Power plant-, Thursday. Born to Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Iffert a daughter. Revival meetings are* in progress at the M. E. church at Benton. Bernice Alwiue spent several nights at the Ira Weaver home near New Paris. Josephone Banta is on the sick list and there is no school. Arlo Green, J. S. Mills and A. W. Mills were at Goshen, Saturday. The new home of David Taylor is nearly completed. J. S. Mills spent Friday evening at the A. W. Mills home. Clay Fodgeand son, Dolply, of Milford, visited Alfe Brookins and family. A. W. Mills and family and L. M. Stump and wife spent Sunday at the J. S. Mills home. Misses Opal apd Bertha Cordiar spent Sunday at the Aaron Tresh home. Bertha Cordiar and Everett Mills spent Sunday evening at the A. W. Mills home. G-ilberts. Mrs. Calvin Cooper Mrs. Solomon Rowdabaugh is on the sick list. Harry Coy and wife spent Thursday with Charley Lutes and familv. Mrs. John McGarity spent Wednesday and Thursday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sim Smith. Mr. Smith is very seriously ill. Wm. Weybright and wife visited Saturday evening with Irve Neff and family. Geraldine Druckamiller visited Sunday with Albert Werstler and familv. Hairy Juday and wife and Russell Warner and wife visited Sunday with Calvin Cooper and family. Mrs. Lula Cooper and son Earl, spent Friday with her sister, Mrs. Amy Clem. Wni. Ogle and family spent Sunday with Curtis Rarick and family. Twenty-one ladies of the Willing Workers’ Aid met at the home of Mrs. J. C. Metz Wednesday. The day was spent in sewing and a bountiful dinner was served by Mrs. Metz. New officers were elected and the meeting closed at four o’clock.

Miss Lulu Doll left Wednesday for Kalkasko, Mich., where she will spend a few weeks with her brother, Therace Doll. Mrs. Hill of Cromwell lias returned home after spending a week with Mrs. Jeanette Wogoman, who is very poorly. Miss Valeria Edgel is on the sick list. Miss Lima Zerba made a business trip to Goshen Friday. Monoquet Mrs. Willis Blue, who has been sick for a long time, is able to sit up most of the time. J. H. Calvert and wife visited Sunday with Ed Sholl and family of this place. At the election of officers chosen for the year at this place in the Sunday School Sunday were; Supt., F. C. Johnson; asst., John E. Hall; treas., Ira Long; sec., Sam Rosbruglf; organist, Miss Iva Hall; chorister, Samuel Stookey. Wm. Kirkendall and family visited Sunday with J. L. Wright and family. Joe Stickler of near Warsaw, spent Saturday night and Sunday with his sister, Mrs. Samuel Stookey and family. Ora Shannon and family of Benton, are visiting Mrs. Shannon’s parents, Willis Blue and familv. Florence Stevens of near Warsaw, visited last week with Mrs. Arthur Stevens and family. The guests that spent Sunday at the Samuel Stookey home were F. C. Johnson and wife aud Mrs. Jefferson Stookey. Next Sunday night in the church in this place a member of the Anti-Saloon League will give a lecture. All are invited. Charles McClintic is moving on the Sellers farm near this place. The farm was recently purchased by Stephen Rosbrugh. Mrs. L. T.Kline visited her daughter, Mrs. Verl Miller and family at Elkhart, Saturday and Sunday. Ernest Sholl and family of Elkhart visited last week with Aaron Staruer and familv. Miss Jessie Cormany spent Sunday with H. R. Miller and family.
