Harvey Brady is driving the mail wagon. Glenwood Shibley and Josephine Helwig of Cleveland Ohio, returned Sunday, after a visit with the A. R, Strock family. Mrs. Wm. Masters and daughter, Mrs. Retta Brown, left Saturday for Stanley, Wis., where they will visit Mr. and Mrs. Chauncey Myers. Mrs. Carrie Evans-Rapp of Wawasee was operated upon at an Elkhart hospital, last week for appendicitis. She stood the operation nicely. —J. Whiting has established a pressing and cleaning room in the rear of Hoffman’s jewelry store. Mr. Whiting. Mrs. Warren T. Colwell is confined to her home by illness. Mr. Colwell was forced to remain off the road until Wednesday, owing to the inability to secure a nurse. Mr. and Mrs. John Younce of Montpelier, Ohio, spent Friday and Saturday in Syracuse, the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Alva Younce. They were on their way home after a visit at Victoria, B. C. John Clingerman, who has been traveling in the interest of an educational company, came home Sunday and will spend several days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Isaiah Clingerman. —On account of other business, I will sell my dairy business and supplies at once, regardless of value. McCloughan and family attended the Leedy reunion at Winona Lake, August 27. Dr. Brian of Bloomington, 111., spent several days last week with Miss Virginia Hillabold. Miss Lou Doll and Byron Doll attended the funeral of their uncle, Daniel Doll, at Kimmell, Monday. Mrs, Jonothan Stump of Nappanee, is the guest of her daughter Mrs. Isaiah Clingerman, at Buttermilk Point. Mrs. John Horner of Butler, returned to her home Friday, after a week’s visit with her son, Ed Horner, and family. Miss Blanche Horner, was at Edgerton, Ohio, for a few days visit with friends the last of the past week. Master Dean Eyster, of Edon, Ohio, returned to his home Thursday, after a week’s visit with Ed Horner and family. Ora Shannon and family who occupied the F. M. Ott property on Mill Street, moved to Benton, last Tuesday. Mrs. Minerva Benner, Vern Benner and family and Mrs. Jeanette Hillabold spent last Friday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Riddle. Wm. Rapp and family and Mr. and Mrs. Steve Russell of Elkhart, are in the former’s new cottage at Buttermilk Point. Mrs. Caroline Dar, Mrs. Nora Wilcox and children and Mrs. Joann Holloway spent last Wednesday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Riddle, of Wawasee. Mrs. C. I. Bender and son, Louis, and Mrs. and Mrs. Wm. Members of the old 29th will remember him as color bearer of that regiment.

Smith, accompanied her as far as Goshen. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Noll of South Bend, were the guests of Omar Darr and family from Saturday until Monday. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Cox and Mrs. Geo. Niccum of Wabash, visited at the home of Otto Pearson, from Saturday until Monday. Mrs. Lydia Cripe Kehr, 48 died Saturday morning at her home in Foraker after a long illness with cancer of the stomach. Mrs. G. F. Todd and children, Lois and Arthur, of Chicago, returned to their home, Monday, after an extended visit with friends, here. Miss Emma Strieby returned Saturday from an extended Eastern trip and on Monday left for Chicago, where she will take a nurse’s course at the Wesley Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Fullmer intend moving in the Sargent home at Wawasee for the winter. This will make it more convenient for Mr. Fullmer, who is employed at the tower near there. Frank Yohn and wife of South Bend, Wade Zerbe and wife, Burdette Holloway, Cullom Grissamer and family, and the Misses Lola and Grace Crayton took Sunday dinner at the G. W. Zerbe home. The sawmill which was once the center of a thriving business in Syracuse; is being torn down. The lumber is being rapidiy displaced and nearly all the interior has been disposed of to Davis Graff. Arthur Hentzell and wife, of Indianapolis, spent Friday with his father. B. F. Hentzell, and familyMr. Hentzell brought with him a cc flection of very large snakes, a part of a collection he uses for show purposes. Wm. Binkley has left his position with the Syracuse Home Telephone Company and has accepted the job of stringing wires from the main plant of the Sandusky Portland Cement Company to the “slip”, at which place the machinery will be operated with electricity. —The kind of food you eat has much to do with your mental and physical efficiency. Coy and wife of Oswego, spent Saturday, with Mr. and Mrs. Mart Long. Mrs. Calvin Cripe of New Paris, who has been very ill for some time, is very little improved. Alonzo Searfoss returned from Indianaolis, Sunday, where he had been visiting. He was accompanied home by Julia Mitchell. Mrs. Fred Hoch returned home Sunday, from Archbald, Ohio, accompanied by W. C. Hoch and wife, who returned Tuesday. Mrs. Charlotte Angel, who has been sick at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Darr, for some time, was taken worse, Monday evening. Mrs. Luella Weaver and daughter, Annabella, of South Bend, returned home, Wednesday, after several day’s visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Bare. —Beckman now has a storage connected with his furniture establishment. He has rented the rooms above the news stand, and will store furniture at a reasonable charge. G. W. Kitson of Davenport, Neb. is the guest of his cousin, Isaac Kitson. Mr. Kitson has been attending camp meetings at Springfield and Normal, 111., and Alexander, Ind., for several weeks. C. V. Smith will give possession of his house on September 15, to A. I. Rayl, and as soon after as will go to Pheonix, Arizona, where he will make his future home. Mr. Smith has been active in G.
