I It seems to be the purpose of both old parties to throwwlust in the people’s eyes by attacking things of no menace to anyone and attacking them solely for imaginary causes in an effort to serve their bosses—the special interests — by leaving paramount wrongs remain. The recent parcel post law was a direct slap at the country merchant and the enaction of that law means full pockets for the mail order houses and will also mean the substitution of drays for the present small R. F. D. carriers’ wagon. Just what Congressman Barnhart is to gain by his last bonehead newspaper law is difficult to imagine. His most recent offering to the newspaper fraternity is that newspapers must publish twice a year, the names of all owners, stock holders, and names of all persons holding mortgages upon the newspaper, together with the amount of the mortgages. John Wingard has installed a one horse power motor that will run his seed mill. O. P. Givens, a former minister at this place, who has been in Missouri, has been assigned to the church in Newville, Ind. Tom Darr moved, Tuesday, from his farm north of town to Mishawaka, where he has found employment in the rubber factory. The Silver Tea that was to be held at the Ketring home Thursday of this week was postponed until next week. Artie Geyer and family and Henry Geyer and family of Milford, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. John Neff. Rev. Hofer, the new president of the Chicago Senate, preached an enjoyable sermon at the Grace Lutheran church, Sunday evening. Mrs. Bush LeCount returned to her home in Millersburg, Sunday, after a week’s visit with friends here. Miss Georgia Strock was absent from her duties at the post office, the first of the week, on account of the illness of her mother. There is no shoe quite so good as the W. L. Douglas. We have a complete assortment of high-grade shoes for men and boys. A. W. Strieby Mrs. Helen Reichelderfer, who has been visiting the George Bowersox family for the past six weeks, returned to her home in Garrett Mon-, day. Walter Ketring and family of South Bend, were the guests of Aaron Ketrings’ and also John Rohers’ of New Paris, several days last week. Mrs. Strombeck and Mrs. Gerard of North Webster, and O L. Line of Wilmot, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Charley Rentfrow and Mrs. Dan Ott last Saturday. Mel Davis has moved to South Bend and the rooms he and his family occupied will be entered by Wm Drukamiller and family who have been residing on the Ed Ketring farm. Mr. and Mrs. Francis Cramer, cf Ke dallville, are the parents of a two pound daughter. The child is fourteen inches in length and its head is about half the size of an ordinary tea cup.
