Mrs. McClain’s daughter from Chicago is here caring for her, and also a son from Michigan. MrsMcClain recently suffered a stroke of paralysis but she is some better now. The little nine months old son of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Cory died Sunday at 12 o’clock noon, of membranous croup, after being sick three days. The funeral was held Tuesday forenoon from their residence and interment made in Salem cemetery. Mrs. Cory is prostrated with grief over the loss of theta only child and recovery is doubtful. Last Friday evening the M. E Loyal Boys had a class party and celebrated the birthday of Johß Cobb and also their teacher. In the absence of the president, Earnest ' Buchholz, Otis Isenberger was selected to serve for the evening, and Kenneth Harkless acted as secre- j tary in the absence of Donald Butt, ; After a satisfactory review of the ( work for the last month a spelling ’ match followed, using the names of ; the Prophets, cities of Palestine and some New Testament names, which was both interesting and i amusing. Wawasee. Harley Moore is moving into the property vacated by Enoch Nulf. Miss Lu Doll was home from Syracuse high school over Sunday. Baby Arthur Dow Crow has been quite sick again and under the doctor’s care. Enoch Nulf and family expect to leave for their new home in Oregon next Saturday. Uncle Noah Cripe and wife have tired of city life in Cromwell and have moved back to their farm. Mrs. Mary Click who has been ill all winter, was much worse fora few days but is some better now. Carl Larson and family have moved into the John Rarick cottage and he will work for Mr. Rarick. David Hooper and wife moved from the Baker fannto the farm owned by Pat Brady near New Paris, this week. Mrs. Caroline Geiskmg, from near Fort Wayne, who was the guest of her sister Mrs. Aldin Godfrey returned home Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Albert E. Fick go to Elkhart Saturday, where Mrs. Fick will play the wedding march on the harp at the wedding of Miss Alta Hogendebler, only daughter of a prominent business men of that city, and Mr. Herbert Tomlinson of Chicago. Miss Hogendebler will be remembered by many as the talented pianist who played the wedding march at the Crow-Fick wedding last summer. Cromwell. Sam Hoffman is numbered with the sick. P. W. Kiser of Auburn was here over Sunday. Wes Hire of Syracuse was in our town Saturday. The Evans family is under quarantine for scarlet fever. Mrs. C. M. Sloan and Mrs. Ed Click, were in Ft. Wayne Tuesday. Gus Snyder is slowly improving from pneumonia and scarlet fever. Minias Schlabach’s have moved to town and are occupying the Dr Gantsproperty. Harvey Hoak who has been ill for several weeks does not seem to improve very much. The L. 0. T. M. entertained a large crowd at the hall Saturday evening at a ‘‘Chinese Reception.” Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Bahl of Cleveland, 0. visited at the home of Bruce Kirkland over Sunday. The Burwell Hardware store held its spring opening Saturday. All ladies present were presented with white and pink carnations. Lenore Moore, who has been very low with pneumonia, is improving under the care and direction of Miss Peyton of Chicago and Dr. Hoy of Syracuse. Sick List. Sidney Windsor is quite ill. Mrs. Alonzo Stiver is somewhat improved. Mrs. Cleo Wolfe of Millersburg has the measels. Mrs. Berdelle Weaver is able to be up some although still very ; week. John Howard who has been ill < for over a week is able to be around j again. The three weeks bld son of Dr. and Mrs. G. 0. Smith has the whooping cough. A masquerade surprise party was given Mrs. Will Darr Tuesday evening by her neignbors, that being her birthday.
