Gilberts. Maurin Hamilton is very ill with typhoid fever. 0. D. Cooper and wife visited over Sunday at Culver, Indiana. Kirt Rarick and family and Guy Morehouse were the guests of Sol Rodibaugh and family Sunday. J. H. Van Dyke and wife of Winona, and George Berkey and family of Elkhart, spent Sunday with Edwin Berkey and family. Abe Morehouse, wife, son, George, and daughter. Ruth, left Friday for Perth, North Dakota, where they will spend two months with their son, Frank. Mrs. Emory Cooper and two children had quite a serious runaway Saturday afternoon when on their way home from Milford. Near their home the horse became frightened when passing a manure spreader and ran away, throwing all three out of the buggy. Mrs. Cooper was hurt quite badly about the head and back, the little boy’s nose was hurt and the little girl’s arm. • ■? Solomon’s Creek. Chester Firestone was a Nappanee visitor Sunday. Clara Jackson is reported better at this writing. Mrs. Elizabeth Darr of Syracuse, is visiting Albert and Ed Darr and families. Franke Warble and family spent Saturday evening with Dan Warble and family. Will Oliver and family of Ligonier, were the guests of John Good and family Sunday. Nute Greene, wife and family were the Sunday guests of Orlo Greene and family. Mrs. Maggie Bikeman and daughter, Pauline, spent a few days last week at Cromwell. Charles Murser and wife and Clinton Rookstool and wife spent Sunday at Oakwood. Samuel Juday and wife spent Sunday with William Knepper and family at Indian Village. Bessie Juday returned home Tuesday after a ten days’ visit at Western Springs, Illinois. Anderson Juday and daughters, Belia and Lelia spent Sunday with Henry Juday and family. hart the guests of Logan Juday and family. Mrs. Snively and Schylor Snively are visiting Dan Snively and family west of Chicago a few days. Mrs. Allie Swiggart and two children of Montpelier, spent Friday with Mrs. Clinton Rookstool. George Colwell and wife of Syracuse, and Cloy Darr were the Sunday guests of Ed Darr and family. Leonard Rex and wife of Syracuse, spent Saturday night with Walter Rex and wife and Sunday with his father, Henry Rex and wife. Mrs. Ben Juday returned home Wednesday after a ten days’ visit at Chicago where she visited her son, Earl. Mr. Juday also spent a few days with him. Classes No. 2 and 3 had a picnic in Dora Ott’s woods Saturday. A fine dinner was served to which all did ample justice. The afternoon was spent on the lake. All reported a fine time and wished for another picnic soon. Home News Notes. Otis Butt was at Warsaw Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Angel is sick at the home of her daughter, Mrs Wm. Darr. Mrs. M. A. Benner is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Christie, and family at Ligonier. * Miss Mabie Hillabold left today for a week’s visit with friends at Fowler, Ind. Emanuel Cripe and wife of Goshen, were the guests of Frank Swihart and wife Sunday. Mrs. M. K. Servis and two sons of Chicago are visiting her sister, Mrs. Rob’t Burlingame. Mr. and Mrs. Gingery of Garrett were here Sunday on account of the death of Junior Buhheit. Mr. and Mrs. Otis Butt and Mr Mrs, N. P. Hoffman were fishing at Lake Papakeechee Thursday. Mr, C. B. Reed and Miss Cary of Kendallville, spent several days last week with Fred Butt and family. Miss Virginia Hillabold returned to Wesley hospital at Chicago Friday after spending her two weeks vacation here. Mrs. M. C. Hockinsmith and daughter arrived here Saturday from Forman, N. Dakota, They do not expect to return. Miss Laura Cuffel has sold her millinery stock at Nappane and expects to take a position at her trade somewhere.
Mrs. Joe Smith is quite sick. Carl Larson and family are moving back to Elkhart this week. Raymond Vorhis was at South Bend on business over Sunday. Mrs. J. W. Deardorff and daughter Joy, were at Goshen Saturday. John Hendrickson and son Hugh, were home from Elkhart over Sunday. Mrs. Patterson is a guest at the Frederick cottage at Oakwood Park this week. Claudia Howard is quite sick at the home of her mother, Mrs. Milo Rookstool. Oscar Grisamer of Goshen, spent Sunday with his son, Cullen, and family. The Epworth League and the M. E. Ladies' Aid will serve lunches on Jubilee Day. Mrs. A. C. Brower and granddaughter, Irene, spent last week with Albert Mock’s in the country Mrs. D, L. Roush who has been visiting her daughter, Mrs. Rob’t Burlingame, for some time returned to Chicago Saturday. Wesley Ott and wife, David Ott, J. N. Juday and wife and Eva May Juday went to Elkhart Sunday in an automobile to visit Logan Juday. Miss Wilma Ott has resigned her position at the Cauffman store and will begin work as bookkeeper for the Coppes, Zook & Mutschler Co. at Nappanee August 21. Sam Houser and wife, Theodore Houser and family of Altona, Frank Mauer of Garrett and Grant Anglin and family of Nappanee, were at Fred Butt’s over Sunday. Mrs. B. F. Hoy went to Bellemore, Ohio, Monday, from which place she will go to Millersburg, Ohio, to spend a week. Her daughter, Miss Helen, is the guest of Miss Natalie Kilgore at Ligonier. Through the courtesy of the Evangelical people, Dr. Light, district superintendent of the Goshen district of the M. E. church, will preach in the Evangelical church Sunday evening at 7:30 o’clock. Mrs. J. C. Hurson and son, John, of Kansas City, arrived Saturday evening to spend several weeks with C. J. Reilly and wife and L. T. Heerman and wife. Mrs. Hurson is a sister of Mrs. Reilly and Mr. Heerman. Mrs. Fred Hinderer, Mrs. Lucy Butt and two children, Mrs. Wm. Butt and son Donald, Mrs. Eston Clayton and baby, Miss Carrie Smith and Nellie, Harry and Alice Mann, surprised Mrs. Dave Brown on her birthday last Friday.
