Jonathan Hoover Passes On, . ; In the death of Jonathan Hoover there is removed a grand, picturesque and sturdy character. He was a man peculiar in many ways, unconventional, direct, slow in manner and speech, incisive and of keen power of observation and penetration. His home wherein he reared a large family was a model of neatness, order and plenty. His crops were always abundant, just a little better than the average, while his orchard always yielded perfect fruit: He applied to himself and his fam] ily the Spartan principles of frugality, honesty and neighborly good will. He will be missed by the people of Syracuse and Milford, as well as by the neighbors of the surrounding farms. The Journal joins in to the family and friends in the de-s mise of such a good character. Mrs. Cynthia Myers who left Saturday for a year’s visit with her daughter and hsr family in Missouri was very pleasantly surprised by her neighbors and friends.
