Bryan At Winona. A large crowd of people greeted William Jennings Bryan Tuesday afternoon at Winona and listened very attentively for two hours to his new lecture, “The Signs of the Times.” Mr. Bryan said many good things and brought out many splendid thoughts, with a vein of humor running all through his discourse, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all present. Fully 5,000 people crowded into the auditorium to listen to one of the world’s greatest orators, and they were few who did not stay to hear the last word spoken. Among the number who went from here were J. T. Riddle and wife, John Howard, Henry Doll, Eli Hinderer and wife, J. P. Dolan, Marion Self, Ed Miles, Warren Eagles, J. U. Wingard, W. G. Connolly, G. 0. Smith and Hugh Kitson. The meeting of the citizens at the town hall Monday evening to consider a factory proposition was well attended and considerable interest manifested. Nothing definite in regard to plans and terms was arrived at, but it is hoped, that at a meeting which will likely be called in the near future, there will be satisfactory arrangements made for the reviving of our foundry and the adding of an other growing manafacturing business to it. There will be bible readings at he home of Lizzie Rentfrow’s every Wednesday afternoon. Every body welcomed. Come and bring your bible and take part in the reading. Mrs. Lizzie Rentfrow.
