SHE IS ASLEEP/ [ Published by request of Mrs.’lda Strieby] She is a-sleep but if the quiet pall Os deaths cold garb around her form should be, How fondly would my bleeding heart recall The loving labor of her life for me. The kind deeds her tired hands hath done The kind words her gentle lips hath said Her heart’s dear faith sipce mine and hers were one; Would all come back th me if she were dead. If my neglect had ever grieved her breast And of her tears had ever been the cause If unresponsive when she has carressed; Or from her heart with held mine own applause. She has been faithful let me kiss her now, While my caresses can make her dear heart glad Not wait till death has settled on her blow; To tell the greatness of the soul she had. Ah, we neglect the praise which is so dear To loving ones who labor day by day And wait till death has laid them in their bier; To pay our tributes to unconcieus clay. I would recall all my unkindness now And above her bier regretful tears would shed And laying kisses on her death cold brow; Relate the virtue of the life she lead. But what could this avail the pulseless heart Could tears bring back the absent breath Or kisses on her lips their smiles -could start; Or praises please the unheeding ear of death.
Leesburg Has Electric Lights. The town of Leesburg now has a system of lighting their streets by power furnished by the Winona Trolly. The lights were turned on Tuesday. The citizens were highly pleased with the result. No person or community can appreciate electricity until they have made use of it or have gone into some town where the streets are dark and dangerous. Milford has had the benefits of this system of lighting for several years and could not do without it under any circumstances. We also enjoy the all night service, and almost all day service providing dark days are on. It is a luxury to rise any time in the night knowing it is not necessa to hunt around and stumble o ver the dog, a half dozen cats and break the water pitcher while looking for an old kerosene lamp. The managers also look after our interests. If the day is dark, the current is turned I on, and we have things just about as we want them.—Milford Mail. Box Social. There will be a box social at the Maloys schoolhouse west of town tomorrow (Friday) evening Feby. 17 Lincoln Cory will sell a lot of well I filled boxes with good things to eat in them.
