CHARLESJ. MEYER. I Relatives and friends in this city received the sad news today of the death of Charles F. Meyer, which occurred this morning at his home in Syracuse. Mr. Meyer was a sufferer from an affection of the throat and the steady progress of the disease in the past year brought an and to a worthy and useful life. Charles F. Meyer was the son of Henry and Nancy Meyer, and spent his life in this city until a few years ago, when he moved to Syracuse. While in Rochester he was one of the city’s leading cigar manufacturers, having opened a factory of his own in 1889. In 1887 he was united in marriage to Miss Rilla Beeber and to this union was born two children, who survivfe. They are Mrs. Mirium Newman, Coldwater, Mich., and Miss Georgia, at home. Besides a wife and children he leaves his mother, Mrs. Nancy Meyer of this city; three sisters, Mrs. J. A. Scull, Salt St. Marie, Mich,, and Misses Rose and Caroline Meyer of this city, and three brothers, John Meyer of Mason City, lowa, and Henry and I. C. Meyer of this city. The body will be brought to this city Wednesday morning and a short funeral service will be held at the home of his mother, No. Main street, Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock, Rev. Stewart having charge. Burial will be made in I. 0. 0. F. cemetery.—Rochester Evening Sentinel, Dec. 12. Jennie Elmeda Stiffler. Jennie Elmeda Stiffler was born March 19,1883 and died Nov. 27 1910 in Kosciusko Co. Ind. aged 27 yrs. 8 months and 8 days. She was married to Clarence Stiffler Feb. 22, 1906 to this union were born two sons and one daughter who areleft motherleess. She was converted in early life and united with the United Brethren church and lived a Christian till death. She leaves to mourn her early departure a father, mother, two brothers and two sisters with a host of relations but they do not mourn as those who have no hope. While there has been a rerd made in the home and we miss her, she has gone to swell the company above. Funeral services conducted by the writer Rev. C. Weimer. . Must Not Be Delinquent. That the government intends to strictly enforce the laws of not permitting newspaper publishers to send papers to delinquent subscribers is evidenced by the fact that special agents of the postoffice department are now examining the subscription lists of newspapers It is the rule that on all papers where the subscriptions is delinquent for twelve months, the paper must be excluded from the mails at the pound rates, and if sent at all the publisher must affix a one-cent stamp on each copy.—Nappanee Advance. Bare are spending this week with a son and daughter and other relations and friends at Tiffin, 0. Clarance Druckamiller and wife of Chicago arrived Saturday and will spend the Holidays with relations and friends here and at Garrett. B Class gave Rev. and Mrs. Ayers quite a surprise Friday evening, when they assembled at the parsonage for a social evening, and left a very generous donation, which was very much appreciated. The Second Quarterly Conference of Syracuse Circuit, U. B. Church convened at this place at 2 P. M.. Saturday, with Presiding Elder J Simons at 7 P. M. Saturday evening, also Sunday morning, which was heard by an appreciative audience. Muntz and Brinkerhoof a law firm of Garrett has been appointed attorneys for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company to succeed Judge Rose. The new firm will represent the railroad company in the counties of Kosciusko, Elkhart, Noble ar.d i Dekalb. The world would be happier if the people were a little more generous with their praise. For about tve weeks the people in that neighborhood had been trying to catch the animal which had caused considerable speculation as to what kind of an animal it was. Arthur F. Griffith, the mathematical wonder of this country is on the Orpheum circuit this winter performing along the Pacific coast at present; and he has been performing, at the Orpheum theatre at San Francisco the last two weeks, and is engaged to perform at the Orpheum theatre at Oakland, Cal., all next week astonishing the people with the new acts they had never seen before, and showing them how quick and accurate he is in solving any problem mentally with his new short systems they have the opportunity to ask him.
