For All Husbands. e Here are given many Dont's that , all husbands should remember: f Don’t forget that a woman likes love tokens as well as before marriage. Don’t be unreasonably jealous. It belittles you in the eyes of your i wife. ‘ Don’t think that you are the only man who works. I Don’t raise your hat to lady friends and not to your wife, when ; you meet her in the street. Don’t leave your wife at home when you go out to enjoy yourself. Don’t compare your wife’s house- : hold management with that of your mother. Remember that the latter had far more experience. ’ Don’t sigh over what might have I been, make the best of what is. Don’t kill the love of a devoted 1 woman by so-called, innocent fllirtations. Don’t forget that your wife has right to a regular allowance which she can call her own. Don’t sneer at your wife’s failures. Rather should you show an appreciation of her efforts to please you. Don’t forget that your wife has a birthday. A small present accompanied by a kiss and a loving word is quite as much appreciated as a costly gift. Don’t forget that your wife needs recreation at times, just as much as yourself. Don’t think that your wife can, run the house on five dollars per week, while you keep quite as much for your own pocket. Don’t get out of temper if breakfast is a fraction of a minute late. An overclouded morning denotes a stormy day. Don’t interfere in household matters. That is your wife’s department, and you know little or nothing about it. Don’t neglect to take an interest in your wife’s dress and above all. allow her sufficient money to dress, according to your station. Wants New Fish and Game Laws. L When interviewed by an Indianapolis News reporter, George W i Miles, state fish and game commis- • sioner, said he could not understand why any farmer should show a willt ingness to pay a discharged emr ploye of the commission a $1 fee in an effort to agitate the organization r of the Farmers’ Fish and Game Protective Association. E. E. Earle formerly deputy under Mr. Miles, is at the head of the new organization movement. Earle wants farm ers to* help him get legislation to 5 close the quail season for five years and to make it legal for land own- ‘ ers to use seines in taking fish for r three months in the year. r The Indianapolis News publishes a long statement from Commission* J er Miles in which the commissionei pays his respects to Earle. The lat I ter is not very favorably remembered in this section.—Goshen Democrat: , You Have a Chance. We often hear men say in excuse for their ignorance that they never j had a “chance.” Now the majority . of men who have become noted, made the chance for themselves. Where there’s a will you know, and the boy who determines to be something and does not lose heart in the struggle, generally accomplishes his end. One may have a great many wise and eambitious thoughts but if not followed up with perseverance and industry; he will never amount to much. A • thmg must be wholly done and well done, if one would have fame and prosperity. Education is the great preparation that materially figures ■ in life’s success, and our High School is making extensive preparation to give every man and woman in the county a “chance in the race” at a very small outlay. * Oysters Cheapest Meat. In comparison with the other kinds of meat now being sold in Indiana markets, the oyster, under the present conditions of selling, is the cheapest that can be bought in the opinion of H. E. Barnard, state food and drug commissioner, who has just completed an investigation of oysters offered in the markets in the cities of the state. He says: “A quart of oysters will weigh from two to two and one-fourth lbs. and retails from thirty to thirty-five cents for the average grade, which includes that usually purchased for family use. This makes the oyster cost about fifteen cents a pound for solid meat, and when one considers the various uses to which it may be put, it is readily seen that it ought to appeal to the economical housewife.” . s Weist Wins Out. A. E. Weist, who promoted the Huntington, Columbia City & North-, western tractfon line, a project that was never raalized, has made good at Delhart, /exas, where he has just completed A steam road 100 miles long. Several times it was thought the concern was. dead for good, but Wei§t rescued it in the end. ’ Recognizing his merits as a promoter, the dozens of Delhart gave him a a banquet. Following the collapse of the 11. C. C. &N. W. road, Weist left Syracuse, where he for a time maintained offices, and located in Texas MIOiIdAN LAND FOR SALE.
