Hoch and daughters are in Arohibold, O , attending the fiftieth wedding anniversary of Fred’s parents, which occurs today. About a hundred relatives are expected to be piesent. Hannah Looklin, sister to Mrs. Henry Blanchard south of town, is visiting at this place. She was one of a party of twenty-five that left this section at the close of the civil war overland, and were the first settlers in Marion county, Kansas. The farm taken up by Henry Blanchard’s father, is now owned by Ed. Hoch, governor of Kansas. Mr. Charles D. Clark, who has a ■cottage at Kale Island and is well known here, is a candidate for the republioan nomination for county judge at the primaries to be held in Chicago and Cook county August 8. Mr. Clark and fiis estimable family are regular attendants at the Methodist Sunday school and church in town while they occupy their cottage, and have many friends here ,who will wish him success.

When crossing the railroad at the west end the horse became frightened and turned around, throwing the occupants out and cracking a bone in the woman’s right limb. The man was more soared than hurt. The horse rah up Main street and over the hill on Washington street. At the Mill street crossing the horse fell and broke his leg, and was afterwards killed.

The funeral services were conducted at the house at ten o’clock Saturday morning by Rev. Weaver. The Eastern Star order attended in a body. Saturday night the horse driven by Lester Hoover became unmanageable and dashed across the side walk in front of the Journal office, striking Frank Harsh, Sr, and knocked him down with great force. The horse went down the walk in front of Pensibger’s and in sliding off upset the rig. Hoover jumped out but his two daughters were considerably jarred tip. Mr. Harsh received several injuries about the head the rig going entirely over him. Mrs. Sidney Strong of Akron, Ind., and Mrs. Hannah Morton of Wakarusa, were guests of Mrs. Joe* Smeltzer over Sunday. Mrs. Morton is a sister of the latter. The three were children together, and thia visit was greatly enjoyed.
