Miss Estella Thrasher of Bloomington and Miss Lill> Glaspy spent Wednesday with Miss Vesta Simmons.
Paris Trisler, the well kown section foreman put on a very broad smile as he opened up a large envelope at the postoffice the other night and drew out a check. He thought the president of the Monon was giving him a Xmas present of a small check of about $365.00, just to express his gratitude to him for his faithfulness in the Motion’s employ for the past 18 years. The check called for 365 all right but it read something like this, “First National Bank, Portland, Ore., Dec. 25, 1909. Pay to the order x>f Paris Trisler, Three Hundred and Sixty-five Days of Peace, Prosperity and Happiness’ ’ —signed James Leonard. Mr. Leonard is an old school, mate of Mr. Trisler and the check is as much valued by Mr. Trisler as if it had called for dollars instead of days.
Turn over a new leaf to-morrow and try to keep it clean.

Dr. C. M. Jackson was called to Clear Creek Sunday to see a case of scarlet fever in Dew Dillman’s family.
Mr. Carl Hodges was a caller at Mrs Nan Johnston’s Saturday night.
A number of young folks from here attended the Xmas exercises at the M. E. church at Smithville Saturday night and report a fine time, although it was very snowy.
