Everybody came out last Friday ! evening to witness the concert given; by the Syracuee Cornet Band in K P. hall. The weather was favorable and many people from the surrounding country came in. always desirous ! to heai music whenever furnished by our excellent bund. We are pleased to see the interest thus displayed It shows that the people appreciate ! the fact that a good band, under skilful leadership is a desirable organization. and since financial Aup- ‘ port is nec- ssary to the success of such organization, the citizens should j be willing to give encouragement J The pr-M-ecda were $21.63 and will' lie used for the purchasing of new music and other expenses. One of the mumbers upon the program was an overture by G<*kou. This was J was especially fine, ami though, lengthy and qtiile di.ficult, was well; pet formed throughout, the different changes in - movement and expression being well execute*. Mr. G \V. Miller sang a very pleawiijg duet, and’ the audience heartily encored a quar-( fette sui g by Mr. and Mrs. E. W Hire Mi*h Hillabold and C C. B-u b man G-W. Miles gave a splendid; cornet solo, the organ occon.pani meiit being well peifonued by Miss ■ Miles. The evening entertainment j cloeed with a laughable farce called the “Egyptian Mummy," in which ‘ the following gentlemen took part, Wm Snavely, C. C. Bachman, E. W. Hire, E. P. Miles. Win Bowkl.-E. H’-llowav snd Allen Olt. Each one' did exceedingly well. TBe cnaructerw seemed to have been assigned to! the right persons; there couldn't hav<-1 be< n a fdtnier Irishman than Elmer ' Miles, o a m ?re nj nucus lai key than Wes Hire. Each of these twq gentlemen are well known singers, and favored the audience with the , latest songs suiting their respective 1 characters. The entertain uent last - - 'ed about two hours, and nudi- ; enev departed well pleased.
