Milford is going to have a new librarian, Mrs. Doug (Jody) Brown. The former Jody Fullmer of Elkhart is going to start working with the current librarian, Carolyn Groves, next Tuesday and will be taking over as head librarian sometime in October. Jeff Hall was recently presented a SIOO check as the winner of the State FFA Placement in Agricultural Production Proficiency Award during the State FFA Convention. 20 YEARS AGO, SEPT. 9,1970 Mrs. Dorothea Kerlin, librarian for 44 years, was the recipient of a handsome plaque Tuesday evening for her efforts in establishing a children’s room in the Milford Public Library. Presenting the plaque to Mrs. Kerlin was Mrs. Delbert Roderick, library board president. Dr. Gerald Snider and daughter Pam of Milford won honors recently at the Indiana state fair in Indianapolis with their Guernsey cattle displayed there. Specialist four Dale Rink, son of Mr. and Mrs. Merril Rink of Milford, is spending a 30 day leave after returning from Viet Nam. He will return to Fort Carson, Colo. spent several days last week with Jeanne Kaiser at Lafayette. Oliver Replogle of Milford was winner of the blind boggie held at the Wawasee Golf club on Labor Day. Replogle finished with a 71. 30 YEARS AGO, SEPT. 8,1960 An open house reception will be held for Mr. and Mrs. Warren Fisher who were married recently. The reception will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. Beer at Syracuse from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 18,1960. Donald L. Rink, Milford, Ind., began his six-month active duty for training Sept. 4 at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. After his return home the Army Reservist will continue his military training with Battery C, sth Howitzer Bat., 84th Artillery, Nappanee, Ind. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Custer have begun to build a new home on road 15, just north of the Chore-Time Equipment Co. Custer says the house will be a brick veneer bungalow, with a full basement. Also, early this week the four-acre tract east of Milford owned by Dr. and Mrs. Floyd Rheinheimer was cleared. The Rheinheimers plan to build a new home there, keeping an eye on the possibility of beginning yet this fall. A son, Blane Thomas, was born to Mr. and Mrs. John Hurd, Friday, Sept. 2, at Goshen General hospital. The baby weighed eight pounds. The mother is the former Carol Beer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. Beer of Syracuse. Dr. and Mrs. E. R. Hurd of Milford are the paternal grandparents. 50 YEARS AGO, SEPT. 12,1940 At the middle of last week, Charles Purdum, only son of C. H. Purdum, of several miles east of here, left for Lexington, W. Virginia, where he will enter his third year at the Virginia Military Institute Young Purdum graduated from Culver Academy. At Virginia he is studying electrical engineering. Mrs. Louis Rassi and her guests, Mrs. Lizzie Schock and daughters, Olga and Helen, of Gridley, Kansas, spent last Thursday in Fort Wayne at Latty, Ohio. Mr. and Mrs. Lehman Wemple, who are at the present time having a new home built on north Main street, hope to move to their new location by the end of this month. Mr. and Mrs. Burris' Sharp will move into the property on south Main street were the Wemples now reside. No second hand School Books taken in after Friday, September 13. — Milford Drug Co. BADSKEY ELECTED - Jerry Badskey, owner of Badskey Realty, was elected president or the Kosciusko County Board of Realtors for the year 1990-91 at their annual banquet at the Tippecanoe Lake Country Club Sept. 7 at 6 p.m. Badskey has been activelyworking in the real estate field since 1980 and established Badskey Realty in 1984. Since then, the agency has gone from a twoperson office to 10 sales associates. He is currently a member of a number of realtor associations, and has served in several capacities. He received his CRS Designation in 1989, and the GRI in March of 1990. In 1988. he was honored at the state convention. South Bend, for being named Realtor of the Year. He is past owner of Micro Cleaning Products, a business he started in Fort Wayne in 1979 and sold in 1988. Flags stolen The theft of two pennant flags and posts, valued at $76. were reported stolen from Big Boulder Golf Course, SR 15N, Milford. Milford Town Marshal Dave Hobbs stated that it appears the theft was committed by kids as sticks were left in the holes after the posts were removed The theft happened sometime Monday evening, Sept. 10, and is under investigation.
