WILLIAM L. MEYERS, M.D. R.R. 6, Box 36, Syracuse, IN 46567 Announces the discontinuation of his medical practice. Patients may pick up their records and X-rays during regular office hours: Monday-Friday 11 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m - noon until the office finally closes September 29, 1990. ” Although, many satisfying years of attending patients 65 years and older are fondly remembered, as of September 1, we con see them only in the event of an emergency. Medicare s July, 1990, Bulletin subjects physicians to '52,000.00 civil monetary penalties beginning September 1, for each violation" if a doctor fails to file a Medicare patient's claim and they will not tell the physician/supplier whether a claim has been paid or denied, the payment amounts, the payment dates, or any other information." This means a $2,000.00 fine for failing to send in a Medicare form that they themselves will not tell if they received or not. These ongoing samples of Congressional and Medicare oppression rob the last vestige of joy from what once were inspiring tasks done with enthusiasm.
