The team will play its first Northern Lakes Conference match of the season at 4:30 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday), with a contest at Concord. The team will attempt to make up last night's rain-out with Whitko on Friday afternoon at home. The Warriors will also host the annual Wawasee Invitational on Saturday morning, beginning at 9 a.m., on the Warrior Courts. Scheduled to compete on Saturday with the Warriors will be tennis teams from Columbia City, Fairfield and Jimtown. With an experienced and talented line-up, Brady is very confident, despite the busy upcoming schedule for the squad over the next several days. "After the invitational this Saturday, we expect to be 7-0 heading into next week,” he concluded. Lady Linksters record win The Lady Warrior golfers tasted victory for the first time on Thursday, Aug. 23, when they beat the Whitko Lady Wildcats, 253-262, at the Sycamore Golf Course in Manchester. The win improved Wawasee’s record to 1-10 on the year. Wawasee freshman Amber Esenwein led all golfers with a low score of 50 over nine holes. In the serving department, Bray, along with each of the Mikels, recorded two aces for the squad. “The positives, thus far, have been the team’s ability to come together and rally after falling behind in games,” said Swartzentruber. “We’re falling behind when we don’t communicate as well, but then the team starts communicating and we realize that’s how waptay better.”

day evening at Bethany Christian. After trailing 7-14 in the first game of the match, the Lady Warriors rallied for the victory, as Stiver served seven straight points to finish out the game. In addition to her serving success, Stiver had seven digs for the squad, while April Bouse recorded five kills. Trisha Mikel picked up two aces and eight assists for the squad. The JV squad also opened its season on a winning note, posting a 15-12, 15-2 win over Bethany Christian. Crystal Clipfell had three aces for the winners while teammate Corbat had 10 assists. Debbie Black had five kills in the win. Tougher Competition Ahead Despite the team’s 2-0 start, Swartzentruber realizes that tougher obstacles lay ahead for the team. “I’m happy with the victories, but I also know that the NLC (Northern Lakes Conference) competition will be tougher than what we’ve faced,” said the first-year varsity coach. The Lady Warriors begin conference action tomorrow (Thursday) evening with a home match against Plymouth. Action is scheduled to begin with the JV match at 6 p.m. “I scouted Plymouth this past weekend and they have a really good team. The attitude and the morale of our squad is very good, however, and things are coming along for us, ” the coach concluded. The AHA estimates approximately 1.5 million Americans will have a heart attack in 1990, and more than 500,000 will die.
