Summer baseball/softball action continues to be enjoyed in Milford
The Milford girls'.youth league all-star softball team recorded a 23-3 win over the Leesburg squad in area softball action Sunday. July 8. Crista Dippon went 2-4 at the plate for Milford while teammate Brandi Bray added a 2-3 effort. Betsy Henderson picked up the pitching win for the team. Golfers hold outing The Tippecanoe Country Club 18-hole ladies golf league conducted play recently with eight winners recognized for their efforts in three classes of action. In Class A action, Krista Koors (low gross), Irene Bucher (lownet) and Shirley Bricker (lowputts) were the top finishers. JoAnn Mosbaugh (low gross). Babs Couch (low net) and Betty Manwaring (low putts) were the top players in Class B play on the day. In Class C competition. Dianne Creech (low gross) and Pat Fulwilder (low net) finished with the top efforts.

July 7 Play The Milford girls’ all-star softball squad also collected a win last Saturday, with an 8-6 victory over North Webster. Henderson again collected the win for Milford while Bray led the offense by going 2-3 with a homerun. Jenny Sorenson collected two hits for the winners while Dippon added a 1-3 effort. The Milford boys’ all-star squad dropped a 13-3 contest at Leesburg in area action last Friday. Troy Wuthrich collected two doubles for the Milford offense while teammate Josh Mitchell drove in two runs with a single. In T-ball action, the Angels, A’s, Yankees and Indians all picked up wins. The Angels defeated the Twins, 21-14, while the A’s notched a 31-17 decision over the Cards. The Yankees were 28-24 winners over the Reds while the Indians beat the Royals, 28-12.
Big Boulder Belles hold weekly play
The Big Boulder Belles held its weekly ladies golf outing on July 5 at the course in Milford, with three members taking top honors on the day. Bonnie Newman shot the low gross score for the day while Elaine Weiss posted the low net effort and Kathryn Clifford came in with the lowest number of putts among the competitors. Bike ride around Winona Lake to be July 21
On Saturday. Warrior Summer Football Camp to be held July 23-27
The 1990 Wawasee Summer Football Camp for boys who will be enterint grades six through nine in the fall will be held July 23-27 at Wawasee High School. The sessions will be directed by Troy Akers, newly named head football coach at Wawasee. and will be a one week non-contact camp. The camp will stress the development of fundamentals and will focus on instructing total player awareness through individual. group and team development. Akers will be assisted by Scott DeHart, offensive coordinator for Wawasee. as well as members of the Warrior team The camp is also scheduled to include instruction from some college players and a visit from a local collegiate coach. -The Warrior camp will spend a significant amount of time teaching the staff's new concept of offensive football to everyone involved. The important aspects? of defense, as well as special team play, will also be covered during the comprehensive week of football teaching.

Some of the goals of the camp staff this summer include teaching players to have fun with the game of football, while also increasing their knowledge of the game and developing selfconfidence. The non-contact camp is also designed to emphasize important safety measures of the game by using correct form and techniques in drills, practice and games. The camp sessions will be held from 8:30 a m. to 10 a.m. each day for boys entering sixth and seventh grades and from 10:15-11:45 a.m. for boys entering the eighth or ninth grades in the fall. A special rate is available for the registration of families imore than one boy at camp) while all camp paticipants will receive a t-shirt. The camp sessions will be Jield on the football practice field at Wawasee High School or in the WHS gym in the event of inclement weather. Deadline to register for the camp is Friday. July 20. and applications are available at the high school.
